Hi gals! I've been growing my hair out for about a year now. it use to be just under my ears and now it's on my shoulders about an inch or so. It takes FOREVER it seems to grow lol. Do you guys know any good tips to get it to grow faster or how to make it look its best? I have about an inch or so of dead ends but i don't want to cut them to lose the length :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I need the best advice on what to do! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Thanks ladies!

You will always be told that by cutting your split ends it will look healthier and prevent them from splittting further up, but I too hate to lose the length when growing out my hair.

Taking Biotin supplements will help with hair and nail growth. Aside from that it is just a matter of time.

Take supplements to help with the hair growth and get regular trims. A few mm off wil be hardly noticable and will prevent further damage and split ends.

most people grow about 6 inches per year.  Some people grow slower or faster though, but keep in mind it's probably going to take at least 3-6 months before you'll probably really notice your growth.

You only need a hair trim to get rid of split ends, so if you're staying healthy, just check the tips of your hair to see if you need a trim or not.  (If you have no split ends and your hair looks healthy, you probably don't need a trim.)  I usually notice my hair is typically fine unless i get really sick for a month or something. Then I get split ends popping up all over the place.

If you have split ends though, it's the quickest way to make your hair worse -- it makes your ends look really shoddy, and it'll just keep splitting up the shaft of the hair strands until you get a clean cut.  Weaker hair also promotes more breakage.  Making sure you're eating healthy and staying healthy also promotes stronger hair!

Give your hair a regular micro-trim, just a couple of millimetres so you don't get dry ends. It's worth working out what in your current routine is damaging the ends, are you flat ironing, using sulphate shampoos and silicone-heavy styling products, twirling the ends or using the same up do day after day? Coconut oil is fantastic at penetrating the hair and protecting from further damage

Vitamins and minerals work synergistically and in opposition, so it can be harmful to supplement them individually or in small groups. Hair needs the full complement of micro- and macro-nutrients plus regular exercise for optimum growth. Hair tends to grow more slowly in the winter months so be sure to get sunlight daily.

First of all get rid of those split ends with a micro-trim as they halt any further growth of your hair. Protein is an essential element for the stimulation of your hair growth because your hair is also made up of proteins. So, eat foods rich in protein such as liver, yogurt, eggs, fish, yeast and milk products.

Biotin supplements are a great way to encourage growth. Your hair and nails are made out of Biotin so you are not taking something your body doesn't need, in case that is a worry. It's also great for skin! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I am an expert in growing hair, having tried everything from all natural treatments, to applying Monistat to my scalp to encourage growth.

In all the years I have actively been growing to extreme lengths the one thing that has showed the greatest effect on my hair growth pattern is using this lunar hair care chart.

I used to get 6 inches of growth per year, without trimming at all. I took really good care of my hair at that time, as well, using the most natural and hair friendly ingredients I could.

Now that I have been using this chart, I trim about 4 times annually (based on my needs) and I get 10 inches, or more, growth per year. It is a very effective tool in my journey, and I swear shaving by the retarding dates also yields excellent results.

Since the link, and some of my story has been removed, my whole post makes no sense. What I am referring to is trimming hair according to specific dates that coincide with the moon. I believe it works much in the same way the moon affects the tides, but it does work.  Just a a heads up :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> today is one of the best dates this year to trim to encourage thickening of hair, I did it yesterday. There are also specific days for encouraging the most growth, which were the dates I was following before.  Now that I have 44 inch long hair, I am going for thickening up my hemline, so using those dates instead.  There is lots of info about this on this online.

I have a few suggestions, my hair was chopped off and I had to keep a balance of healthy hair and trimming. The most important thing is to keep your hair healthy as possible. The healthier the fewer trims you'll have and the shorter amount you'll trim as well. I use Neutrogena's Triple Moisture Deep Recovery mask as my regular conditioner and I love it.

In order to maintain the length too I only trim a very minimal amount about four times a year. That way you can actually feel like your not chopping off your length every month. I second the biotin as well. When I was growing my hair I would take GNC for Women, Ultra Nourishair supplements. When you take them you will feel like your hair is growing twice as fast.

I would get a trim every 6-8 weeks depending on your hair type! Also, my client's have really been seeing amazing results from taking a prenatal or hair, skin and nails vitamin and using Paul Mitchell Super Strength Shampoo, Conditioner and Liquid Treatment!

Give it a try!

I love that conditioner too...highly recommended! and I also agree there's trimming, conditioning and biotin that help hair grow!

Aside from taking vitamins and trimming of hair ends, you may also use castor oil for hair growth. Apply castor oil on your hair 2-3 times a week. Do this before bedtime and leave it on overnight. Then in the morning, wash your hair as you normally do. Rinse well. Make sure no resudue was left, (it's kinda sticky). Aside from aiding hair growth, it would also make your hair healthy, thus making it soft and manageable.

I grew mine out to waist length in about 4 years. Just keep your hair healthy, don't brush while wet, deep condition it, and yes, trim those dead ends off! I know it's hard, but it really does make a huge huge difference.

I just trimmed about half an inch off of mine because the ends were getting kind of ragged. I also have a pair of hair cutting scissors and I cut off any split ends that I find in the pieces of hair that are shorter because they're still growing out. It is time consuming, but it's the only way to ensure that you don't lose way more length than the trim will take off!

I had some pieces that I lost a good 6" on, because the split just traveled up it and it was like 8 split ends in a row off of the same hair.
