So long story short. I nearly burnt down the house!

Lastnight when my ex was here I was going thru my hair with my ghd's when they blew up on fire! at the plug, I could of pooped myself! they just went up like a firework and when I didnt know what to do! luckily after screaming abit they stopped! and my ex switched the plug off and when they cooled down he unplugged them, the wire is melted through! they have to be binned now, I cant beleive this! they cost me alot of money! Im so peed off.

I hope it is still under a warranty!!

To me personally, as long as the iron is fully ceramic and you have a decent product, you do not need to fork out the $$$ on a GHD.

Oh man, I'm glad the fire went out on it's own and nothing/no one was hurt. BTW, what does GHD stand for?

they came out with hair products recently, but after hearing that story its kinda making me nervous to try it.

GHD = Good Hair Day! It wasnt for me, I heard ages ago a story of them blowing up on people but i thought nothing of it, after how great everyone said they was, but god I wont be buying another pair of these! a watse of money imo.

That sounds so scary!

And I completely agree with Lissaboo , fortunately no one got hurt.

Iv heard about that happening alot but with the old version of the ghds, you could have sent them back to ghd and they would have sent you some new ones usually for free, i think you just have to pay postage. then you could have just sold them to get your money back.

I heard that too - it was on Watchdog a while back. Usually due to people winding the cord around the straighteners when they're not in use

oh gawd how scary. I've had mine for a good few years and luckily touch wood nothing like that has happened. I love them
