My sister said she got some great advice from this forum so I'm using it now.

Now my b-days coming up and I've been looking at new flat irons on line.

So far I get the impression Chi is the best but it's all so pricey.

I've heard some good stuff about Remington (a cheaper brand)

Anyway my hair is similar to my sister who got tired of flat irons all together.

Its kind of thick and frizzs up real easy.Any ideas on a good and fairly inexpensive flat iron?

I would suggest that you invest in a Chi, the cheaper they are the worse they are. I have bought a gold n hot flat iron before for 11 bucks, and the only thing that it did was take out small kinks. If your hair is super frizzy, i suggest a CHI

i heard there are good sources of irons of chi technology on ebay.. since the development of the chi, cheaper versions came out and they say that these $40 items on ebay give the same quality as the original chi.. can anyone corroborate this?

From my experience the Chi and the Sedu give the best results. My hair is also really thick, and most straighteners just won't cut it. But these are great. My sister in law actually has a revlon "ceramic" straightener that also works surprisingly well.

Andis is great. You can purchase one from WalMart for about 25 bucks. I have really thick hair and its perfect. My bestie owns a chi buts once she had to use my andis and was so amaze at how good it worked

I was looking in Cosmopolitan yesterday, and they recommended a Remington T-Studio flat iron, which they said was very much comparable to the GHD, except it allowed you to also use it as a curling iron. For only $44.99, I might have to look into one myself!

Sedu all the way!!!!!!!! Its a little cheaper than the CHI like $20 cheaper hehe. But its well worth it. I also like Creative, but those range from $100 to $200 bucks.
