I recently read on Paula Begoun's site that she really likes flat irons that can be used on wet hair, as they save a lot of time. I was surprised by this recommendation, as I assumed that this would REALLY damage your hair, and she is usually not into recommending products that cause this kind of damage.

First of all, do these irons cause a lot of damage?

Also, if I would like to try one without spending a ton of money, are there some that you all have tried that work well? Maybe one that you can buy in a regular retail store and not the $200 ones in Sephora?

thanks,

Cass

wow, that sounds quite interesting! i didn't know that they even had something like this? how do you protect your scalp? please post more info!

I have remington wet2straight and the sizzling i hear is most likely my hair frying. lol I wouldnt recommend it.

Enough said! I will go with my original feeling on this and not go near this styling tool!:10:

Thanks for the confirmation, ladies !

I use a wet/dry ceramic straightener, but I never use it on wet hair!

My hair has been slightly damp in places when I've done it (only in a rush) and yes it sizzles, it freaked me out! I've never done it again.

My cousin does it on her wet hair everyday! (I've seen steam coming up!!) I told her not to, but she says it's less frizzy........I disagree, don't do it!

I never use mine on wet hair! I could just hear it burning my hair!

My favorite HG flat iron is my Sedu. It cost me $120, worth EVERY penny

Can I ask why? Have you used other, less expensive flat irons? What have you found to be the difference?

I bought the Remington Wet to Straight once, but I wasn't satisfied so I returned it.

I believed it left my hair dry.

And not to mention the smell, which really bothered me... :frown:

Flat irons and wet hair don't seem to mix very well.

However, my sister's friend has a Remington Wet to Straight and it worked nicely on her. I'm assuming this is because she already had naturally stick straight hair!

i wouldnt use it on wet hair, i mean its so bad on dry hair think what its going to do to wet hair

Yeah, I thought about using this for a little bit but once I saw all these responses and really thought about it, I realized this would NOT be a good idea!

Thanks everyone :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Im glad u posted this...........i was wondering the same thing................Im never going near those things

I agree!!! I have went back to using a regular flat iron. I just use it after my hair is dry! The wet 2 straight makes my hair frizz when it's ironed wet.

Im disappointed now. I have just sent for a Wet to Straight off of Ebay. My friend has the most amazing long lovely hair, and she swears its the remington wet to straight that has caused this hair. She didnt before. The sizzling is just the evaporation of the water, not hair cooking. I usually rough blow dry my hair then use GHD Straightening irons and this is two lots of heat. The GHD's being mega hot. They are brilliant though.

So, I thought maybe just maybe one lot of heat, drying and straightening might work. Ill keep you posted.

my friend had a wet dry straightner and she said she hated it and her hair looked pretty awful after she used it.

Personally - not for me. My sister however swears by hers, and has been doing this to her hair everytime she washes, for a few years now. Her hair is fine. (I mean, her hair seems to be going ok.. the hair is actually quite thick).

Like I said though, NOT FOR ME.

I never understood how using a flat iron while the hair is wet was a good thing. I still think that it fries and weakens the hair.
