My hair is on the "fine" side and colored. It is almost to my shoulders. I usually dry it with a hot air brush, but recently bought a flat iron. I bought a Vidal Sassoon iron for fine hair. They also make one for normal hair and coarse hair. Well, I spray my hair with Nexxus thermal spray, clip it all up, start at the bottom ironing small sections at a time, and NOTHING happens. My hair is mostly straight with a wave here and there. The iron does not straighten the slight waves or make my hair smooth and shiny. It looks no different even if I go over and over each piece. Could the iron just not be hot enough? It seems pretty hot. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Couple of questions:

Is your hair completely dry when you try to straighten?

Does the manual that comes with it tell you the temp of it?

What material is the iron made of?

And most importantly:

Can you take it back if necessary?

Yes, I can take it back, got it at Ulta. I have dried my freshly washed hair then used it or wash my hair at night and used it in the morning with the same results, nothing. The plates are "1 inch nano gold ceramic floating plates" . There is no info on temp or watts or anything. Thanks!

Oh, I just found on the inside where it says in very small writing 170 watts. that isn't much, is it?
