Here is my hair now (although it's quite brown in the sun)

I'd like it browner

Since I don't want anything drastic, or something I might regret, I'll be using Clairol Radiance, a deposit-only gloss (no peroxide or ammonia).

I just have ONE question for you guys - which shade??? Here is the color chart - Radiance Swatches.

I'm thinking of using Light Natural Brown (since it takes darker, right? I heard Dark Natural Brown pretty much shows up black). Or should I mix a few (if so, which)?

Thanks

ive never heard of clariol radiance but i would go with a light brown , dark brown does often look black , does this deposit color ive never heard of a gloss that actually gives you color they usually just bring out the tones you already have but then again i havent heard of this product

thanks all!

Radiance Long Lastin Semi-Permanent Haircolor

Just so you know, a semi isnt going to lighten your hair, keep that in mind

Maybe just get nice auburn/medium brown streaks framing your face, and not all over? I'd hate to cover that gorgeous natural colours of yours, darling! I'd suggest just getting strategically placed streaks or highlights. They'll incorporate into your natural colour, and regrowth will be less noticeable. Plus, they'll be easier to manage and care for. Bleaching is death on dark hair, believe me, I know. *shudders*

But, in the end, its what works best for you. So go wild, and post pictures so we can see your new look!

I have no knowledge of dying black hair, so take anything i say with a grain of salt. But I was going to say go with the light natural brown as well. I think the color would work nicely on you.

Oh yeah, if that is a semi (rinse), it is not going to make your hair that color if it is dark brown or black

It's probably going to tint your hair to make it browner in the sun (our hair is similar) If I were you I'd try 4N

and maybe even mix it with 6a or 6n

You have naturally black hair. Putting anything lighter than your natural color on it won't deposit color. Remember, color won't LIFT color. I think you should leave it as it is. People would kill for that hair! Naturally jet black and shiny, I think it is gorgeous! But if you have to, a few highlights professionally done wouldn't be too bad!

yeah just to clarify, I realize any results from a product like this will be minimal if any

I just want the slightest possible tonal change

i have black hair too!!

hmm maybe you would consider dying your hair dark brown? btw, are you an asian?

Yep, if your hair's dark and you're trying to lighten it, just putting a light color over it will do nothing. Highlights would actually look really pretty in your hair with your natural color as the base. I wouldn't do it yourself though unless you really know what you're doing as I ruined my hair once with an at-home job.
