Dying blonde hair brown

I really want to dye my hair darker..its a sandy blond color/light brown but I've never dyed it before so I'm a bit worried but I'm definately gonna do it. Any advice or input? I don't know how to pick a color..? How often should I touch up the roots? I'm clueless when it comes to this. Here's a pic of me so you can kinda get the feel of my current hair color. Thanks!!

i wouldnt dye it permanently right away, you should try the semipermanent lines, they wash out pretty much in two weeks, so then you dont have to commit and you dont have roots

I agree, get a semi first, in a lighter color brown, dont go very dark
