So this has been plagueing me for years. We have Blondes. People with brown hair are Brunettes. People with red hair are Red Heads. What the heck are us Black Haired Girls??? Blackettes???? Any ideas?

how about... (lol can you imagine, black-heads)

ebony... tressed

raven tressed?

jet tressed?

coal coifed??

onyx maned?

inky maned?

I think we fall under brunet

I you hit it on the nail. Technically, ladies with hair as dark as off black can be considered "brunette". Raven-haired comes to mind though when I describe ladies with black hair. Maybe the term should be coined "Ravenesque".

Hahaha, I've always wondered and been bothered by this very same question! It doesn't seem right that we fall under "brunettes", because our hair ISN'T BROWN. I can't refer to myself as brunette without feeling like I'm short-changing myself, lol.

Just googled "hair color names" and Wikipedia popped up with this:

I don't want to call myself a raveonette...

lol thinking the same thing the other day when i was looking at brunette shampoos and conditioners! i didnt feel right buying one of them as my hair is black.. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

i want a cute name too damn it! LOL

Nic

I like sable haired

sablesque sounds exotic lol

I'm gonna start saying sableseque :moa:

I looked up black in the thesaurus and it said brunet.

I don't think brunette includes black. When I think brunette, I think a specific type of brown - brown with reddish highlights.

It's so unfair that there's no special name for black haired girlies.

In all the romance books they usually say something like 'she turned to face him, her dark locks swirling about her like a black velvet cape' or something like that, hee hee

I know what ya mean about not knowing what to call it, I mostly hear raven haired, but I think its known as brunette really.

haha! whoa, you're good! you should be a writer!

I dunno.. i just consider myself a brunette.. hehe.. My hair is dark brown after all..

I Love all these suggestions!! Raven-haired and Ravenesque sounds terribly romantic!! Woot Woot for the Ravensque MUT members. Oh and check out Pantene's new Midnight Expressions shampoo for Onyx Hair!! Love it.

never thought about it, all the ones sound funny because there really isnt a true name!

i like ANYTHING but brunette. face it black haired girls, we are NOT brunette. brunette implies anything from brown to darkest brown. i dont believe that it includes black. i wish we had a cute name as well!!! like, the john freida collection has cute little titles like sheer blonde, radiant red, and brilliant brunette...why not something for black? :frown:

i always thought dark hair brown-black was brunette.. i do like ravenette
