Curling Iron Trouble?!?

I don't know how to curl my hair without, getting a line at my hairline from where I clamp down the iron??? Help? Can someone show me how not to get the line?

Are you clamping at the top of your hair and wrapping the ends? If you do it that way, you have to angle the iron so that the clamping part is parallel with your hair, if that makes sense.

You can also start clamping at the bottom and roll up.

I clamp at the bottom and roll up. I dont see how your clamping at the top...

I'm not sure if this is what your talking about or not, but be sure the ends of your hair are not "sticking out" of the iron, they must be "in" the clamp where you cannot see the ends. It sounds like you are "folding" the ends when you curl. I hope this helps.

Youre just turning it the wrong way irregardless of where you clamp it or if hair sticks out (although for me I always clamp at the bottom as I cannot imagine how to roll it from the top hahah).

After you clamp it (lets say the thin clamp of the iron is on top, hair in the middle and the barrel at the bottom - although that shouldnt matter either) you have to turn the barrel so that the hair goes over the barrel first, not the clamp (so that should be turning inwards if I am thinking of this right). So its over barrel then over clamp. Then you wouldnt have the weird line, and it wouldnt matter if you have some hair sticking out of the clamp since it will roll/bend in the right direction.

Are you clamping from the top and sliding the iron down to the bottom? Ususally I find the line mark is from leaving it on one spot in the middle of your hair for too long.

Have you tried to wrap your hair around the curling iron, instead of using the clamp? Many people think this works well.

maybe youre turning it the wrong way? with the clamp on the underside? that would cause a line
