I colored it 2 months ago to a light brown but it didn't look like the color on the box and every hair salon I went to told me I can't color it myself cause color doesn't catch color...? or something like that...

But my bosses Aunt who cut my hair for me told me that it's not true she colors her hair all the time and told me all I need to do is buy the color I want, color my roots first and then just lightly dampen my hair with my fingers and color the rest of my hair and leave it on for 20 minutes and then wash off.

Can anyone tell me if that really works? I'm kind of afraid to color my hair again cause it didn't turn out right the first time but I'm really looking to cut back on $$$....

Thanks!

I'm curious what your hair colour was, prior to dying it 2 months ago.

If it is lighter than the light brown, you might consider removing the light brown dye that is in your hair. Color Fix by jheri Redding removes the dye from the hair, but doesn't lighten the real hair colour.

Then you could try dying your hair another colour - or have a salon dye your hair the colour you want.

I think it would be a mistake to apply a lighter coloured dye, on top of your light brown dyed hair. You'll probably end up with an orangy colour.

i would get it done professionally, the person who cuts your hair has more practice dyeing hair and uderstands the chemistry better. so while sometimes color can change the color of your hair, it is not going to lighten it at all and it can be tricky and could result in a mess up color
