How come when i dye my hair it's not the same color on the box? it's either darker than the color or only a little lighter than my hair but not the same as the box

Well, you probably have to take into account what your hair color is to start with, and what the hair model's hair color was to begin with. If for example her's was super dark to begin with, and your's was super-light to begin with, the color is probably not going to come out exactly the same on the both of you. I've never dyed my hair though, so I can't say for sure.

Yeah I know, but on the side theres Before and after Pictures for different shades (before: Blonde, Brown, Dark Brown/Black). It still doesnt come out the same lols

Am I doing something wrong?

Oh. Well, now I just have no idea. I think the most unbelievable thing though is those little fake hair swatches that they have in front of the boxes in the store - they don't look anything like real life, or the picture on the box for that matter.

As long as it's not a considerable difference in colour it's probably just differences like Princess mentioned above, and the porosity of your hair vs. the models, condition, lighting..that sort of stuff.

If you noticed, the box should've stated the color isn't an indication of what color your hair will be. No one's hair is EVER the color of the box unless they've bleached their hair first, and even that's not a guarantee. Also, everyone's hair takes color differently, and different color hair takes differently, as well as even certain hair dye colors.

Also, when it says the color results for previously dark blond, light brown, dark brown hair, it is not taking into account your natural undertones. If a person has cooler undertones (an ashy/mousy hue), it's going to pull a different shade than some who has very warm coloring.
