Color Depositing Shampoos/Conditioners?

So I'm getting my hair highlighted in a couple of weeks. I'm a brunette and am having red highlights put in. I had this done about 2 months ago and followed all the "rules" to prevent fading - Used a color safe shampoo/conditioner, washed/rinsed hair in cold water, didn't wash hair every day, etc. Even so, my hair is pretty much faded.

I'm just curious if anyone has ever used a color depositing shampoo/conditioner, what brand, and did it help? Also, how often can you use it e.g. is every time I wash too often? And also, for the stupid question of the day, if I use a red shampoo on my hair red highlighted hair, it won't turn my natural color (brunette) red?

I use a color depositing shampoo every two weeks to keep my hair blonde

i use clairol shimmer lights and i love it

i know they make one for red hair too
