My daughter has chlorine buildup in her hair due to taking swimming lessons. The hairstylist said she could do a treatment on my daughter's hair once summer ended, but I'm wondering if there is anything we can do now. Does anyone have any recommendations for shampoos or any home remedies?

Thanks!

go to a swim shop, they have stuff you can purchase for that. Or you can try:

usaswimming.org

the-swim-store.com

swimoutlet.com

lane4swim.com

my kids are swimmers and I know I have seen that stuff before on one of those sites, I have never used it though because we havn't had green hair yet.

We don't have swim shops but I can check out all the websites you listed. Thanks! My daughter's hair isn't green & she only has 2 more days of lessons to go...I don't know how much the hairstylist will charge for the "chlorine treatment" but I thought it would more than likely be cheaper if I just bought some type of swimmer shampoo instead. Thanks again!

Thanks NYAngel! Should have known - I looked at this shampoo at CVS, it was on sale. I didn't know if it would work though so it looks like I'll be going back there tomorrow. Thanks for the tip about the clear shampoo, Rachelle. I wouldn't have thought about checking for color! Uh, dumb question here, but will using a shampoo that is colored be bad for my daughter's hair right now? She's been using L'Oreal For Kids Blueberry shampoo and it's - you guessed it - blue! If CVS wasn't closed right now, I'd be up there getting the UltraSwim...

Thanks!

Nexxus makes a really good one called aloe rid. I use it during the summer because I practically live in the pool. It takes all the chlorine out, but is still really gentle on your hair.

i read somewhere recently, that if you take quite a bit of conditioner and coat it before that it would help. the reccomended conditioner was one by pantene..wish i could be of more help. she can always use a cap, but i hated those things..lol.

I used to use it all the time, and it always seemed to do the trick... plus it's not expensive & available pretty much everywhere
