Is it really the best out there? I have tried so many straightening irons and keep hearing this is the one to get. Anyone know?

Most people say it is the best... here are a few past threads on CHI irons..

yah ... some ppl like it ... some ppl prefer rusk ....or another ceramic one ... personally i love it and i have coarse wavy thick hair ...

I have 2 teenage daughters who are biracial. The Chi works great on their hair.

*claps* thats the one I have (have had it almost two years) and its still great! totally worth the money dont forget a heat protector though

I have the chi and really like it - I guess, for me, the only thing that I don't like is you can't control the heat settings. I had a HAI before the Chi and you could control what setting you wanted the heat to be. Other than that, it does a great job!!!!

Yeah, those irons get HOT! Thats why you want to try & use it minimally and always use a heat protectant!

I have a CHI and I think it is great! My hair isn't too wild or uncontrollable so it doesn't take much to get it straight. Definatley have to use a heat protectant though!! I also don't like the fact that you can't change the heat settings but that is the only downfall I think it really has.

For that reason, you want to be sure you keep the iron moving... quick strokes --- don't let it linger, it'll burn the hair.

I have never used a heat protectant, I've heard about them but never used any. How important are they?

i have the chi also and i love it.... i have THICk and CURLY hair...but once im done straigthening...its super flat and nobody would guess that i have curly hair...unless they already know haha... its easier to use because they're small and thin (i have the 1 inch one)...and it doesn't damage your hair that much because it's ceramic!

oh yea...and i use the biosilk serum on my hair before i straighten it... it helps the straightening process and makes your hair even straighter than it would be if you were to flat iron your hair without it

I've never heard of a Chi Straightening Iron before until I read the hair forum here.

On the Vogue AU Forum, the GHD is rated as like the best straightening iron.

Very.... they help protect your hair from the high temps of irons & other tools. It helps to prevent burns, retain moisture, and prevent most damage. It's like touching a hot stove... you wouldn't put your hand on it.... so you use a potholder

Chi Irons are more well known in America. The GHD is considered the best in Australia. I have a GHD straightener and I agree. I have really curly and frizzy hair. When straight, my length is at my underarms. When naturally curly my length is half way between my ears and my shoulders. That's how curly my hair is. My brother has an afro, I got off easy compaired to him. I only have to go over the hair once. It heats up to 210degrees celcius in 6 seconds.
These are the best irons in England and Australia, the majority of salons in the Australia use them. That's got to say something for them.

With this iron I get the same finish as my hairdresser.

Do you have the 'normal' one or the one with the wide plates?
