Anyone have one of these & feel like it burns your hair - I swear, here lately, every time I use my flat iron (about 3 times a wk) my hair smells burnt/fried, I have used all kinds of heat protectants (I'm now using FF glossing cream) but none of them have helped, my hair also seems to be breaking off more and becoming allot more drier (I use salon poo/cond. and a deep cond. atleast twice a wk). My hair is fine, wavy, color-treated and med. thickness - any ideas why this might be going on??? The only thing I'm doing diff. is growing my hair out, maybe, I should try a Sedu or Solia flat iron - I know some flat irons do better on certain types of hair, the Chi might be 'to much' for my hair.

Any thoughts?????

Thats kind of weird... and your hair isn't damp while your doing this? (I tried doing that while hair was wet... completely burned it).

I dont own a Chi flat iron, but I know lots of people really seem to like them. I recently bought a Coriollis (sp?) flat iron, and it doesnt burn your hair at all, it actually gives your hair shine.

I use the Coriollis flat iron everysingle day (sometimes twice a day) and it doesn't burn it at all.

I know exactly what you mean! I have a chi as well and it felt as though it was destroying my hair. I have had a lot of trouble with growing out my hair because the chi causes so much breakage. For this reason the best suggestion I can give is to stop straightening your hair all together for maybe a few weeks and let it get strong again. But if there is no way to avoid straightening then I suggest maybe asking your hair stylist what the best straightener is for your type of hair and if their recommendations don't work then ou could always use a cheap one temporarly from a drug store. I hope I was of some help!

What type of hair do you have? is it colored?

Is your hair normally dry? Because you color your hair it has less moisture and more prone to getting dry and getting breakage. And straightning your hair 3x a week is a lot of heat for your hair. My only recommendation is not to use the flat iron that often. My hairdresser told me using the CHI was practically like putting an iron that irons clothes on your hair. (Basically really really hot!) As to if other flat irons causing less breakage I really have no idea, but would love to know for myself.

hmmm . .. that's strange. maybe u need better hair products. I use Healthy Sexy Hair and Matrix Iron Smoother heat protectant. I have chemically straightened hair (the waves are growing back though). My hair has been dyed several times. my hair is also very coarse. ... this is how it looks after the chi ....

hmmmm....I guess I'll check try to not use it as often, but, thats going to be really hard. My hairdresser uses a Chi & rec. them, thats why I went with this brand. I'm going to check out the Matrix and HSH heat protectants....I'm starting to get a large collection of these products - lol. :)

Thanks everyone!!!!

Honestly, the Chi iron isn't my favorite.

It doesn't have a temp control.

Paul Mitchell iron has a temp control and I love it.

I've had that fried hair smell and it's terrible

Checking out the Paul Mitchell iron now - thanks!!!
