Bought a flat iron - now what?

My hair is straight and on the fine side. It is to my shoulders and I just want to smooth it and turn it under on the ends. I bought a CHI, also CHI silk infusion. Do I need anything else? Is it okay to wash my hair at night so I don't have to blow it dry in the morning?

Do u already have a heat protectant ? The CHI is super hot so if u don't have one, u really need to get one. I always wash my hair @ night and never blow - dry , and i don't see anything wrong w/it

Isn't the silk infusion a heat protectant? I put it in after towel drying.

Thanks for the info Kim... Seems more like a leave-in than a heat protectant.
