hey everyone! so here's my deal, i have naturally dark blonde/light light brown hair and get it highlighted blonde. i love it when i first get it highlighted because its so much blonder than a week later, it feels like it fades. is there anything i can do to stop it from fading? (my hairdresser uses color on my hair not bleach) or if i started dying my hair blonde what would the upkeep be like? thanks guys!

I would say it depends on how fast your hair seems to grow. Blonde can be a tricky color to maintain if your roots are naturally dark. Have you talked to your hair dresser about it? S/he could possibly use a lighter blonde so the color looks more blonde longer. I'd definitely try to stay away from bleaching it though.

There are shampoos designed especially for keeping the yellow out of hair. I know Schwarzkopf and Keune have one called Silver reflex.

Also try using shampoos designed for blonde hair. Almost every brand has them.

I do bleach my hair. It can be hard to maintain, but I love it. Lots of work though.

Anyway, to avoid brassiness and brighten things up, I use Jhirmack Silver Brightening Shampoo & Conditioner. It's made for gray, blonde, bleached or highlighted hair. The purple pigments in it do a really nice job to enhance color. It's very inexpensive--you can find it at drugstores, Wal-Mart, etc. I have used more expensive/different products, but this one works the best for me.

I would suggest the color enchancing shampoos...John Frieda, Pantene, Tresemme...they all have them.
