I was reading a column by a local news lady and she was discussing how you can get a cheap makeover by going to a beauty school. I researched the schools around my area and you can get $6 manicures, $25 color, and $15 facials. The idea of getting highlights for $25 instead of $100+ is really appealing to me.

Anyone ever had anything done by a beauty school student?

Never Paid for anything from a student But I was a student & I was in beauty school & Seen many Mistakes happen & Even made one huge mistake myself , It may be cheap but You have a much higher risk of someone messing up Since they are just learning Your basically paying a cheap price to be a guinnea Pig !!! Of course if there are any major mistakes an instructor will take over but it takes much longer & sometimes its beyond fixable!! Of course mistakes dont happen all the time but just to be safe I would say get a facial, manicure/pedicure, hair style & most likely it will be fine but be catious of chemical services!!!

I haven't been to a beauty school yet, but I have considered it a few times. I haven't heard of any big disasters from our local schools, but then the students are supposed to be supervised most of the time.

Personally I'd be a bit tentative about chemical treatments, but I'd happily go along to get more basic stuff done.

I have used the local beauty school for eyebrow waxing and hair cut trims, honestly i havent had too much problems and its worth saving a couple dollars.

Now you have me scared! Hmm--maybe I'll check out the place and start small with facials and a haircut, and then move onto doing just some basic highlights.

The beauty school I went to, if someone is willing to be the model for the student such as exams, or homework, that person gets them done for free. Sometimes we even have to pay 20 dollars for the models.
