A few months back I switched to a different hair place, salon because my old stylist was sort of rude, uneven hair cuts etc.

I've been to this new stylist/place for about three months ago and have been satisfied. Unfortunately she moved to another Province and suggested another stylist in her price range.

Two days ago I saw this new stylist. I asked about getting a few subtle highlights in my dark brown hair for summer. She did the highlights and I ended up looking like a skunk! The whole top of my hair and sides was a golden brassy copper color, it looks like solid color. The bottom layers is dark brown. At first I thought it was the lighting but I went closer to the door, natural light and I still hated it. She said my split ends were a half inch. Since my hair grows fast I asked for just one inch off. She ended up cutting off 3-4 inches, my hair is definitely uneven in many places!

I realize that sometimes color doesn't turn out or something goes wrong. Anyways I didn't like the color at all and the way it turned out. She said "It looks great!" I politely told her that I was not fond of the color, I felt it was too bright, light for my liking and I would like to make an appointment to have it corrected. She looked annoyed and kept saying "It looks good, there is no problem with it, just keep it, this is the total of your service today."

In all the years I have had my hair colored, cut, I've only complained once. I'm not a fussy person but I clearly felt totally uncomfortable with my hair and felt like wearing a baseball cap.

Once again I repeated my dissatisfaction and she seemed indifferent and said it looked nice. I asked to speak to a manager. The manager came over and I repeated what I said above. The manager said she felt it looked nice and surely I would get use to this type of look.

I said I don't like it and I either would like it fixed or a discount on the price. They seemed annoyed. Needless to say I didn't book an appt to get it fixed and they did discount me.

On the positive side..

I found another place not far away from me. Today they fixed my hair, did a wonderful job, nice owner and stylist and gave me a discount for being a first time customer. I will be going back to them for sure.

ugh. I'm sorry you had a bad experience and that the manager and stylist were so rude. I hope you didn't leave them a tip!

I can't believe they wouldn't fix it, Shelley! What happened to the customer is always right?

that stinks about your experience

I'm really really sorry to hear that. I had a very bad similar experience and I never returned to that salon. She basically cut my waist length hair all the way to my armpit and gave me horrible, choppy , and uneven layers. I had asked for a cut of about 3 inches and I think she took of about 6!

I went to a super high end salon and asked for the best stylist in the whole salon with the most experience and she said the only way to fix it was to trim all the uneven ends and layer it all to a shorter length. She helped me deal with the issue and I'm still not at the length I was previously.

This is a pic before the tragic accident

I promise I almost had a heart attack when I saw how much of my hair was chopped of. I would suggest you find someone that you really get along with, because that way you know they have your best interest at heart and take you seriously, ask for a friends recommendation.

Perlanga, you have gorgeous hair! Even at the shorter length it's still pretty. But I know what you mean. You like your hair a certain way and its cut too short you feel awful.

I didn't tip the stylist who butchered my hair.

The stylist at the place that fixed my hair was telling me that anytime a customer is not happy they go out of their way to make accommodate them and fix any problems. I really liked the woman who did my hair and have a good vibe about this place.

The owner is also super nice. I plan on waiting until August to have it fixed/cut with the new stylist since it's already shorter, don't want more taken off. My hair grows fast so it will be pony tails, head bands etc for now.

That's a good idea and a month will be here before you know it. I'd say take some GNC ultranourish hair vitamins, they have helped me grow my hair faster.

I hate bad stylists, they're stubborn and give hair dressers a bad reputation. Most of us are neither rubbish or rude.

Either way, there's a new wave of hair dressers and nail people who have ITEC qualifications and they're wonderful. I recently employed an ITEC girl and she is just fabulous. I would seriously reccomend them to anyone looking for a hairdresser for a cut or as an employee. However they teach them on their courses it is just magical.
