:icon_roll Hi Greenayeangle, My thoughts are her primary goal is to sell you EL for her commission check and as you said she apparently has peels and microdermabrasion somewhere???? As a former freelance MA and then also worked as a SA at Nordstrom I know FOR A FACT that quite a few of the MA's behind the counter AREN'T USING THEIR OWN LINE OR NOT USING IT SOLELY OR COMPLETELY. Yet they will tell you they are and they get results because of whatever products they are trying to sell you,and you have to buy the WHOLE line and that is the ONLY way you can use it. They also fail to mention any intervention they may have from a derm or a plastic surgeon. You have to do what works for YOUR skin. Some people with sensitive skin or young skin don't use a product like someone else would. I am DEFINITELY NOT saying to use anything the way I do, But I have been using the glycolic cleanser 1X day for years with no ill effects and I look NO where near my age. But, I also am religious about spf and skin care and staying out of the sun, do not smoke, etc. I do a peel once a week and microdermabrasion as needed (I feel my skin and let it tell me and I use different products like Vit C or other things for those, but it is about 1X wk or 2. ). Glycolic acid is derived from sugar and the strength level depends on the products and what they will be used for. Different %levels of acid strength are needed for the different purposes. What a Dr. uses is a VERY high % and you would not be able to purchase it. It also is meant to peel (or burn) a level or layer of the skin surface off. A cleanser is not a high % and is only on your skin a short time for cleansing and exfoliation and then rinsed off. You are not leaving it on for long periods. It simply gently dissolves the "glue" that hold the dead skin cells to the surface and rinses them away so your skin looks fresher and the cells don't pile up and accentuate things like crows feet or frown lines. It helps keep the pores cleared so they don't plug up. I don't think you need 5 million glycolic products. I do know people who use the cleanser and then use a lotion at night with no problem. It is just like anything else, you don't want to over do. Maybe she thought you were refering to using high strength products all together everyday. That might irritate your skin depending on what kind of skin you have. But like I said, a glycolic cleanser is on your skin for just a short period and it isn't presription strength. If you have dullness or your skin doesn't look fresh or you have breakouts or whatever, it might be the thing for you. Some people say you shouldn't use any kind of alpha hydroxy acid at all and some people shouldn't because they have very sensitive skin but with all the technology with buffering and delivery systems more and more people use them BECAUSE THEY WORK. I would bet money she was using them! So do what works for YOUR skin, try things out and see what makes your skin it's best. And look out for salespeople! I used to get in trouble because I sold people what they needed according to their skin's needs and NOT the whole line in my line just because it is what they told me I had to do. I always figured if you are honest and help them with what they need, maybe an eye cream from Clinique, a Lancome cleanser and a Clarin's mask, IF that is what made THEIR skin it's best that is what we did and they were happy. I would rather they be happy and have great skin they loved and came back to me because they knew I had their best interest at heart than have them go home with all this product that wasn't right and hate it. So I always say, find someone to work with that is honest and will work with you to find what you need and hang on to them! There are a lot of people with knowledge on this site so that helps, you get to use it all! You know your skin and body better than ANYONE on earth because you live in it everyday. Do what you feel and you will know if it works for you, then go from there. And if you have questions you know we are all here...hugs and goodluck:icon_love Chermarie
