Hey guys. So my hair wasn't that long before, past shoulders, kinda near...the armpit. So I go to a good salon to get face framing layers. But I don't really like how it looks so much, but it's not that bad. But, with me, if I don't love my hair, I have to keep looking at it, to make sure it looks okay. That's a bad sign, cuz that means I don't like it. And I don't. I hate the layers that she cut. Now, it was only face framing. One near the chin, the other a little below the shoulder. And I hate layers, and I knew that, so I go to hair cuttery the next day(the haircut I got before was at a pricey salon) and get it all evened out. So it's a little below the shoulders. But I miss my longer hair so bad! And it sucks, cuz it was on the very same day that I was going to get my haircut, that I was happy. Because I realized how much I loved my long hair! And now I have to wait forever for it to grow back.

I mean, I've read that if you do a daily head massage (or scalp massage, not sure which or if it's the same thing) then it MAY help hair grow faster. But what IS a hair massage? And is there any other way to help the hair grow longer? I know hair only grows a half inch a month. How much is an inch or a half inch? Cuz it's only the end of May and there's the whole month of June. How much longer do you think it'll be by then? To get a picture in your mind-my hair is just past the collarbone. Any ideas? Thanks for you guys for reading this, even though this is all because of my stupidity.

Hi Rachael. I'm sorry you are hating your haircut. We have all been there before. I don't know of any known ways to make your hair grow faster. I would suggest taking your vitamins. Otherwise you are right, it is going to take time.

You know sometimes it just takes time to get used to a new look. I used to have long hair and got it cut short on a whim and I hated it at first. But it didn't take long for me to fall in love with it. Now I keep my hair short all the time. I have come to enjoy changing my hair anymore. This last haircut I got has a sassy French look to it that I love!

You just might need to have it 'settle in'.... and maybe you should ask the stylist to show you how she dries it --- maybe there is another way to do it to make it easier for you. I would normally take a round brush and curl the ends under. I wouldn't let it depress you too much, it'll grow in soon. You can do scalp massages w/ your fingertips -- but I'm not sure how really effective it is.

I'm so sorry. I hate when that happens.

I'm sorry that this happened

I know how it feels, about 5/6 months ago I went through the same feeling. I know I couldn't possibly tell the hairstylist I didn't like the cut, just how I am.

And my hair growth is possibly the most slowest process.

Honestly, it took 2 or 3 weeks for me to really actually get use to the cut. I told myself, I couldn't let it get me down and it was just hair and that it will grow out. It will take time, but it will definitely grow out. In the meantime, as friends complimented me on my new cut it really brightened up my spirit. You may not like the cut, but for sure someone else will like it.

As days passed, I learned a bunch of ways to style my hair. I figured out what worked and what didn't work. Buying certain products for your new hairstyle really helps. And...

You can't keep saying to yourself your hair is ugly, because you'll feel like no matter what you try to do to it, it will always be ugly. You just have to be patient and experiment.

(One thing I found which completely changed my look was curling my hair.)

Hope that helps a little.

Im sorry you hate it, but it might take sometime to get used to it or for it to grow.

well, you're right about it only growing 1/2 inch a month..that's 6 inches a year. plus hair grows a little faster in the summertime. i don't think there is much you can do to speed hair growth though. protein encourages growth, and also the scalp massaging for a few minutes daily will help. don't stress it too much, you have to keep in mind that it is hair, and it will grow. be extra careful with it during the growth process. i agree about buying some new products/trying new hairstyles..that will make you feel a lot better.
