i acually tried it as hair gel

i have the sme kind- fruit of the earth (think its from walmart)

it wasnt the worse thing i ever tried but the hold wasnt 2 great- i added mousse and even then it still coulda been better

I've heard about this method before as a traditional Caribbean method, but I'm glad it worked for you I may try this one day as a gentle alternative to shampoo.

I bought some Aloe Vera the other day (CVS's version comparable to Fruit of the Earth). I have been using it on my face after my acne cream and before my lotion... it seems to have a nice temporary tightening effect on my pores, and when I wake up in the morning after using this my skin feels SO soft. Long live Aloe Vera!!!

I use aloe gel as a leave-in for my ends and I really like it because it's conditioning without being greasy.

Wal-mart often carries it, sometimes CVS, or try drugstore.com. Also many health-food stores. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

More than safe! It's the synthetic sulfates in shampoo that strip your haircolor. I believe that aloe would be very gentle on dyed hair. I don't know how well it would clean it though. I've also heard of conditioning your hair all over and not rinsing out before shampooing, as a buffer to the shampoo.

Aloe vera has always been nature's miracle worker when it comes to beauty. :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I believe it is supposed to give you thicker hair when applied to the scalp.

I'm definitely going to try this sometime soon!

yeah, i remember my dad applying aloe vera plant extract to his scalp for a week or so when he noticed he had a bald spot on his head. his hair grew back indeed! we had aloe vera plants in our garden before.
