We keep her face clean but she has pimples. I have huge pores and was always pimple prone and I was so hoping that she wouldn't have the same issues. Well I guess I'll be going out to buy some pimple stuff for her tomorrow.

She just turned 8 this summer. I am so not ready for this. I'm not ready for the next phase quite yet so I hope we don't move forward anytime soon.

Ooooh no im sorry to hear that. Starting to get pimples at 8 yrs old. Thats pretty young to get it. However its good you are acting fast, and getting ontop of it before it gets too serious. What kind of cleanser do you use for her face??

She's been using the dove beauty bar.

I think I'll start using some witch hazel astringent and get her some topical treatment going. I don't want to use anything too harsh on her.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

Eight is such a fun age. I'm sorry she's already being forced to endure pimples. Poor, baby! Please keep us posted. I hope you're able to find something to help her skin.

I hope it's just a one time occasion but evidentally I started getting them at 10. Darn it! I have a Mom who remembers everything.

That stinks. The stuff I use for my "acne" is just a topical cream. I think it's called benzaclin pack or something. My face has never been THAT bad, just enough to get on my nerves. But for the little bit I do have, that stuff works. You do have to have it perscribed though.

Aww, poor, little thing! Try tea tree oil for a spot treatment and get her on a good skin regime.

Oh no! I think I might have been in between 8-10years old when I started getting acne. I had it for like 5-8years after. Its good that you are on top of it, and its sort of better she is getting it younger, because its easier to "train" younger children into a routine.

Anything dove would be the best to use. Since she is so young, her skin is probably sensitive. Witch hazel is a good natural astrigent if you want to do that for astringent instead of dove. If you have a local health food store, they may have natural soap if you are going the natural way.

Please keep us updated. Is her acne bad, or did her first pimple just pop up?

Oh, and to keep her spirits up, you and her should have "facials" once in a while. Just get a gentle mask (or make your own), and do facials with her one night. I remember when I was around 10-12, me and my mom, every once in a while, would do facials together!

It's very gentle and is working even better so far than my tea tree oil. I had a big zit pop up on my neck the other night and I spot treated it several times and it's already gone. The cleansers and moisturizer i've tried are awesome, too. My skin is really clearing up. This stuff is great! I've reviewed a couple of the products if your interested.

It's not bad it's a few sprinkled on her cheeks.

My Grandma used to buy me tar soap (I loved the smell of that stuff) for pimples and she'd ground oats to make mask with. I'd prefer to go the natural route with her. I don't trust a lot of the medicinal treatments I remember getting a Rx for a topical treatment and it was so harsh on my skin.

just 8? man, that sucks! i guess you really can't help it if it's in your genes (or hers for that matter). i had pimples from when i was 10 to 19 and it was the worst time for me. i did everything by the book and nothing helped except when i started taking birth control pills (though i don't anymore). my sister also takes birth control pills for acne and she cleared up fast!

Mine wasn't as terrible as my Mom thought it was.

A Dr gave me antibiotics to take on a regular basis to clear it up but I refused. Like that was a good idea.
BCP's did help clear mine up until I grew out of it later in life. Now I only break out on the big P or when I decide to wax my 'stache.

Ok your absolutely right. DO NOT use anything harsh with her. Shes so young its hard to know what to use. Im pretty experience in acne products and such because I had to battle it half my life. But I really have no idea what to use for such a young girl. As previous post said use Tea tree oil for a spot treatment. That might be a good idea. Dont use anything like Benzoyl peroxide, or differin, or Retin A. Shes too young for that and might cause some skin problems. My best advice is keep doing what your doing, and go to a pharmasist (*SP*) I never know how to spell that lol, anyways and ask him/her what would be a good cleanser for your daughter to use at her age. I hope all works out, I feel for her

. Acne is such a pain in the butt. I used everything under the sun and all that worked was accutane and that was brutal to be on.

I read that you asked for suggestions on facial cleaners. Well...I have some advice that helped me out a lot!!! My father has enlarged pores so of course....I got my mother's gorgeous skin tone btu my father's large pores. haha great eh? But anywho....what I foudn to help me out greatly was using St. Ives facial scrub. I use the one that is in the white tube. I think it's called something like blackhead clearing scrub. But it works miracles for shrinking my pores and keeping my skin clear. It's only like 2.50-2.75 for a thing of it in Walmart. Uhm also another thing that I use is called Nature's Cure. It's a kit (they have kits specifically for women, men, or body acne.) There are several different kits. I use the one for women obviously. It comes with chewable tablets and a tube of pimple cream. This stuff is amazing. It took me a few weeks to see results but WOW! Totally worth it! Wehnever I get a pimple, I put on some of the cream 3 times a day and the next day it is almost completely invisible. I love this stuff. Sometimes if I have a pimple that is under the surface of my skin...I add this stuff to it 3 times a day and by the next day, it's almost gone. It's great and I do believe it is definitely worth a shot! The nature's cure kit is about $8-$9 a box. It is a full months supply!

Buy organic honey and apply it like mask. it really works! she is very young and definitely does not need any harsh treatments. I would go as gentle as you possibly can.

You're awesome for getting on top of this! My parents just kept telling me "Äll kids get acne, it'll go away" Well, it was HORRIBLE! In jr high I started to hide from the school bus, skip on picture day and cry my eyes out every night after school cause the kids are SO mean. I got labeled as a "bad kid" cause I was already skipping school at such a young age. They didn't even show me how to use makeup to try and hide any of it. I think it seriously scarred me emotionally.

acne.org has a ton of great info, along with a regimen that seems to work for a lot of people but with such a young girl....I'd go to a dermatologist. Before the appointment, do some research and take a few regimens and if they dont think it's bad enough for prescription, they can help you weed thru what you've read.

Best of luck!
