Hi everyone I'm new here! Nice to meet you all!

I would absolutely Love to hear some advice on what I can do for my skin on my face.

First of all, I'm pale/fair skinned, freckled, burn easy, very sensitive skin (even stuff made for sensitive skin I react to) oh the joys! Haha my face is bombarded with patches of dry flaky skin. It's not itchy, or anything, just a little flaky, trouble areas are usually on my forehead, bridge of my nose, underneath my eyebrows/upper eyelids, and around the edges of my face structure.

I cleanse & moisturize regularly, but nothing seems to work. I've been going to the doctors and have seen dermatologists for majority of my life, everything they have told me to do and prescribed has not worked. I had itchy dry flaky skin all over my body as a child and it was painful, the only thing that seemed to work was a baby aveeno cream which I stumbled upon myself, my body cleared just fine, now I just deal with flakes on my face. I even went as far as getting allergy tests and I'm allergic to just cats.

It's just so frustrating, some days can be fine and very minimal, but most days are horrible. It's so bothersome to put on makeup and the makeup glides over and under the flakes that make them stand out more. I don't wear makeup very often as I prefer a more natural look, but when I do, the flakes are 10 times more noticeable.

Anyhow, enough about that ha ha! If anyone has a similar experience like me, please I would appreciate any and all advice on what I can do to control it.

Please note I do have a small budget, so any product recommendations that are pricy are out of the question for me. Thank you for your time!

Welcome to MUT! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20"> Sorry to hear about your skin care challenges. Do you use an exfoliator? There are exfoliators made for sensitive skin. Exfoliator is good to use to get rid of the dead skin cells and help the moisturizer to moisturize more effectively. Have you tried skin oils? They are really good for locking in the moisturize and seems to be less irritating than typical skin care products. You can use a drop or two under your moisturizer. Many people swear by coconut oil for moisturizing and for all kinds of skin issues. You can buy fractionated coconut oil which is like coconut oil but doesn't have the coconut scent or just regular coconut oil if you don't mind the scent. Also fish oil supplements are really good for all kinds of skin issues but it takes about 2 months or so to see results.

Target has Pixi line and the line was just recently expanded to include more skin care products. The line includes a new Rose oil blend that might be great for your skin and also a nourishing cleansing balm. Have you tried the Neutrogena Liquid Face wash?  http://www.target.com/p/liquid-neutrogena-facial-cleanser-fragrance-free-8-oz/-/A-13337739#prodSlot=medium_1_47 It might be a great option for you too and is a classic facial cleanser. I also really like the Boots line and they have organic products that are great. The line includes a toner/spritzer that would be great for using after a foundation to lock in moisture. There are also hydrating primers that you can use under the foundation to help it last longer. Elf has a hydrating one and so do many other lines. Also have you tried BB creams? BB creams are kind of like a foundation but have more of natural finish and skin care ingredients making them a great choice for daily makeup without the hassle of a foundation.

I also highly recommend trying some Korean skin care products and see how your skin reacts. I think Korean skin care is way more effective than the regular main stream skin care products. Target carries several K-beauty skin care products now.

Hope this helps and hope others have suggestions for you too.

Hello Snowy_Owl :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

This is How i take care of my skin before and after the make-up.

Firstly, I do is peeling facial at least once a week before the make-up day to protect it from skin sensitivity problems.

Secondly, make sure you are comfortable with face wash you use. Then after washing your face, always apply moisturizer.

And that's pretty much about it. All the very best I hope I helped you.

GOOD LUCK

Thank you both so much! I really appreciate it!

As for the exfoliator, I havent, but will definitely check it out.

I also haven't tried the oils, but I've heard some great things about them! I'll have a look around the next time I go out of town, hopefully I can get some locally.

I just recently bought a BB cream from NYX cosmetics, I received it in the mail yesterday and tried it today. I know I shouldn't get results instantly, but I do like the coverage it has. It's not a lot, but definitely evens out my skin, I'm also not feeling the tightness like I usually do. Hopefully after a while it could help my dry skin.

Thank you both!

Depending on what type of cleanser you use, you might want to switch it out with something more gentle. Anything soapy or anything that foams will be drying. You might want to try something natural, like raw honey or oil cleansing. Or make your own cleanser, there's a million recipes out there if you google it.

Definitely try a pure oil as a moisturizer, my favorite when my skin is super dry is avocado oil. That and wheatgerm are the most potent ones I've found, but wheatgerm tends to smell rancid pretty quickly. Coconut oil is good too, but it is not as moisturizing as avocado.

You most likely need to eat more fat too, most people who struggle with very dry skin have a bad oil balance. So try eating more fatty fish, nuts, or chia seeds. Oil capsules may also be helpful.

Don't worry, it is never too late. I just acquired a Monsia facial cleansing brush, my 1st one and I am in my 70s! I apply aloe vera gel and then use the facial cleansing brush. Both are very gentle. I use the Monsia Skincare range - my skin seems to like the shea butter and jojoba plus all the other goodies. During the winter after applying the night repair cream I have been adding vit E oil especially to my neck, forehead and around my eyes. This has helped keep my skin hydrated through the night, definitely no tight feeling when I wake up.
