just wondering if i used my GHD on a synthetic wig it would ruin the wig or my GHD. I would think it would melt but my teacher said to style synethtic hair u have to but in boiling water. but i have no idea how to do that, i just assume my GHD would be hott enough. its a blonde wig and im having a blonde moment!

My mom just went through chemo, so I know something about this....

Basically what I know is that if it's human hair, it's safe to go ahead and style it. If it's a synthetic wig, you want to steer clear of heat or, you're right, it'll melt.

Sorry to hear that Pink, but thanks for posting. I agree... most synthetic pieces don't work well with irons.

It's okay...she was declared cancer-free a few days ago, I'm happy to say.

Anyway Kimberleylotr, I hope you find something that works.

What your teacher means by the boiling water..... Roll the wig with plastic rollers and dip them into boiling water, not the whole wig just the rolled pieces.

Do NOT use your flat iron on synthetic hair..... ever taken a flame to barbie? it's not pretty.

Flame to Barbie...LMAO!
Underthepink24, I am happy that your mother was declared cancer free! What did you all do to celebrate?

I'm in CT and she's in VT. She's a big Elvis fan, so I wish I had the money to take her to Graceland...I need a new job so hopefully when that happens I can start saving. She still has some stuff to go through so I'm just trying to be there for her...but she is healthy right now and that is the important part. At least I got to go up and see her a couple times throughout this 9-month ordeal. Hard being so far apart when someone you are so close to is so sick.

I'm glad your mom is okay Pink! I've never known synthetic hair to hold up to heating tools, so I'd stay clear of those!

if you want to style a synthetic wig use sponge rollers and boiling water I do it to my clients hair all the time when they want the weave look the curly hair thing going on and i usually make wigs from a stocking cap using textured sythetic hair or cheap human hair and aneedle and thread or hair glue
