Hi everyone

A while ago I decided to start taking a multi vitamin. It states on the back to take with food but im always forgetting becaused im out and about alot.

I take a contraceptive pill ona night before bed and wondered if anyone thought it would be ok to take them at the same time?

Thanks

I'm no pharmacist but I don't think vitamins will interact with your contraceptive pills. So, it shouldn't be a problem taking them along with your prescribed ones.

I wasnt really too worried about that, just with it saying to take with food if it would be ok not to?

They probably tell you this because it may hurt a little sensitive stomachs, like they say with ibuprofen or maybe because they think your body will absorb it better if it's mixed with other nutrients. But i think as long as you find a moment you're sure you will take them, you'll be fine.

I like to take vitamin C in the morning, the main reason being i use it to wake me up and i used to take iron medication that needs to be taken with your breakfast (and it helps the iron being absorbed).

I take mine in the morning with my breakfast. Vitamins aren't going to interfere with your contraceptive pill at all.

I take mine at night before I go to bed.... I tried in the morning but since I rarely eat breakfast I would get really sick to my stomach on the way to work....

I take mine at night! It just says take with food because the iron can cause an upset stomach. No big deal! Just take it whenever it's convenient for you!

I take mine with water 4 hours after I take medication for my thyroid so they won't interfere with one another.

actually... there's a school of thought that thinks vitamin c can affect the contraceptive pill's absorbency into your body if you take it WITH something containing vitamin c. it won't necessarily affect the pill in making it 100% non effective but it might weaken it a little, it depends how much vitamin c you're taking. but to be safe, i would take your multi vit in the morning and your pill at night just to be sure.

I take them after eating something, if you are taking contraceptive pills then the best option is to talk with your doc.

There are a couple of different reasons to take it with food. The first is that sometimes they are a bit hard on you stomach and taking it with food makes one feel less nauseous. The second is that some vitamins absorb better when taken with food. I don't know which one your taking so it could be either or both of the above reasons.

i dont take vitamins, because a lot of the stuff in a multi vitamin i don't need at my age. also they make me really sick, with food, or without food. i noticed when i take a multi vitamin i bruise easily. weird isnt it.

I take mine first thing in the morning. I leave them next to all of my makeup gear, so they go along with my morning routine.

I usually don't take vitamins in pill form, I just eat a Luna Bar and it has everything I need in it. I'm scared of the multi-vitamins in pill form because I think they are lying about calories, and if you consume too much of the fat soluble vitamins it can mess with your liver.
