Well, here is my story...When I was in High School (16yrs old)  I was allowed to wear mascara...I was so excited to be able to wear "make-up" that I didnt know what to do with myself.   Well to make a long story short, one night I fell asleep with it on...sooooo when I woke up the following morning, I looked like a raccoon.  I tried to take it off but my face was red, irritated and above all else, I still looked like a raccoon.   So my mother's advice (after she laughed)  was to use vaseline, A&D onitment or petroleum jelly to remove the eye makeup.   Even though many cosmetics companies make a solution that removes eye makeup...I still revert back to using A&D ointment or Vaseline every now and then to remove the eye makeup.

My mom taught me to take good care of my skin since I was in the early teens. I used a cleanser, toner and a moisturizer diligently. More than I do know. Being so tired after a busy day with the kids, there are many days when I fall asleep without washing my face or taking my make up off. My skin was in excellent condition through out my teen and early adulthood years. I need to get back to taking care of it regularly again since I can see effects of aging.

my mum told me to go natural! haha. she always tell me not to use so much makeu p when i can so i can allow my skin to get a little breather!

My mom never wore much makeup, she's actually only worn blush her whole life. But when I first started using makeup, I was 17 and she told me that I should do all the research I could on foundations and skin care because anything I use will have an impact on me later, for better or for worse.

My mother told me that no matter what time of the day (or morning) it is, never sleep with make up on! I swear by it too. If I do sleep with make up on, my eyes sometimes hurt and face breaks out. Yuck.

My mother taught me to take care of my health, to sit up straight, to walk tall with your shoulders back, and to always smile if I want to look beautiful. I'm still working on the first 3 lol.

My mom told me to never put two coats of mascara on, I don't know if it's just my lashes but every time I put two coats of mascara on it looks like I have spider lashes (yuck!)

I haven't gotten good makeup advice from my mother. Her ideas are rather horrible.

Why? What was up with your mom? My mom didn't know really anything about makeup.

My mom always stressed taking care of my skin. She always regretted not knowing what she knows now about protecting her skin. As a result, I'm not big on moisturizer and sunscreen. Her big tip she always encouraged me to do was to use egg whites on my face. I know how weird that sounds but I recently googled it, and it's legit. She would beat egg whites and put it on her face and let is sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off. It soothes skin and gives it a great glow. They actually sell bar facial soap made out of egg whites that I prefer to cracking eggs in the bathroom!

Well....my mom was an exotic dancer (I hate the word "stripper") and she always taught me that the most attractive look is one that just gives a hint of what's to come (e.g. the gal in the conservative, well-tailored dress makes the dude wanna take it off kinda thing), but when it comes to makeup, I MOSTLY teach her.

HOWEVER, at the age of 11, she handed me GONE WITH THE WIND....and I never wanted to be tan again! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Always wash your face before you go to sleep. My mom is not big on beauty or cosmetics but she was huge on this.

She always told me to wear sunscreen and also to eat properly. She said your outsides look like what you feed your insides. So if you eat greasy unhealthy food you will have a greasy unhealthy face. Sounds bad but it's really true.

Yep, my mama, too.. She stressed washing all the dirt off before going to sleep. She also was big on lotion or vaseline for hands and feet.
