For normal foaming clenasers I think you wet your face first. WIth cold creams and oil-based cleansers such as MAC cleanse-off oil, shu, or DHC, I think you apply those to dry skin. With cold creams you then wipe off, with cleansing oils you *then* add water.

Dear All,

What is this Cleanser you guys are talking about...???

I wet my face..dab dry.....and apply astringent/toner to cleanse my face before or after MU....n I use upwards strokes from the neckline to the forehead......Is this the right way or should I leave my face wet or the cotton wet before applying astringent...Pls adv..??

i wet my skin before applying just about anything other than toner. i wet it before cleaning, and before applying masks. i make sure my skin in still moist from my toner when i apply my moisturizer. the only product i allow to dry on my skin before i move to the next step is my stridex pads - i let that dry before applying my toner.

we use facial cleanser to remove dirt and makeup from the skin before applying a toner. much gentler than a soap you would use on your body, but the same concept.
