Are you washing your face the proper way? What is the proper way.Does it depend on skin type?Or how your skin reacts?

My big question is if before applying a face cleanser is it better to wet your face or apply face cleanser on dry face and then rinse? How many of you guys apply face cleanser on dry face? and how many of you apply face cleanser on wet face? witch is better.I hope not to confusing.

i usually wet my face and then put the stuff on, but thats usually because i want to splash my face with water to wake myself up!

for a while, i use to just put the stuff on and then wash it right off.....if you actually take time to massage it on your face, you'll notice a big difference.

You're supposed to wet your face first, from everything I've always read. This is especially true if you're using a pore-refining cleanser which has abrasives in it - the water acts as a buffer of sorts against dry, damage-susceptible skin. If using a regular (non-abrasive) cleanser, I put some in my one hand and then pat the hands together under running water before splashing it on my face and massaging it in. The face isn't wet beforehand, but neither am I putting plain cleanser right against my skin - the water is there.

I would think wet would be better. I either add water to cleanser in my hand or use one of those cloths that when you add water it lathers up.

I like to wet my face, apply the cleanser all over my face and gently massage for a while before I wash it off.

Hi Denicelpz,

Your questions are not confusing at all. :icon_smil

Before applying the cleanser, splash warm water on your face and neck. Work the cleanser in your hand, then apply starting from your neck work upward to your forehead. Always apply the cleanser using upward strokes. When you get to the eye area, always circle starting from the brow going toward the temple to the inner corner of your eye. Do this part no more than 3 times. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. All of this should take no more than 3 minutes. Make sure you apply toner (alcohol free is best), Once toner has dried, then moisturize (use one with a spf :icon_smil). Make sure your moisturizer has dried before applying any makeup.

Also, when drying your face..ALWAYS use a clean towel. Meaning..you need a fresh towel every single day..throw the one from the night before in the wash. It's helped me with breakouts.

Hi,

Excellent tip Skincare. It is essential to keep the towels clean.

One final tip from me. When it's time to dry your face, take the clean towel and blot your face with it, do not rub. Also make sure that you apply moisturize to your neck.

I wet my face first, although Cetaphil you can use on a dry face (I think you just wipe it off too) but I never do that. I agree with the others, gentle circular motions around the face, avoiding the eye area before a toner.

I think that it depends on the cleanser you are using. I use MD Formulations and on the back of it, it says to apply on a dry face and then add water. When I use Stila's scrub (which can be used daily), it says to use on damp face.

i get my face wet and then take a cellelouse spounge put cleanser on it. then wash my face. spray the spounge with disenfectent and then im done.

Hello Deniceplz and welcome!

Well, I am a freak:wacko:..I wet my face, put cleanser on, go steam it in,

and then I always rinse my face with a spray hose, facing downward.

I have one attached to my sink. That way, I'm not pushing the

dirt back up into the pores or clogging them. If I want to increase

the power like a blast cleaner at the carwash, I can just lift

the faucet control. I don't know if it's the proper way, but my skin

has improved a lot since I started doing this about a year ago.

You know ladies i've been using this skin regime and it's working like a charm! I have oily skin and I just wash with the Cetaphil for about 10 sec.(starting off on a dry face) and let it dry for about 3 minutes and then I wash my hand again and put on my moisturizer being very gentle while massaging it into my face until it is gone and it works beautifully! I guess the idea is being gentle and clean while your doing all this!! Sorry off the topic!:whistling:

Hi,

There's a product by Dermalogica called Ultra Calming Cleanser. It's just like Cetaphil (for people with sensitive or sensitized skin). You can use it on a wet or dry face. Personally, I prefer to apply cleanser on dampened skin.

Thanks guys. But for how many of you works better to use a face cleanser on dry, damp or wet skin?In witch of these three ways you see better results?

And what about toner spray on toner or rub with cotton pad?

I wet my face then immediately apply cleanser, it does not work for me if my face isnt wet. Leza, your advice is really helpful. And LMAO at what Elizabeth said, I can just see myself using my car wash sprayer on my face, ha. But I believe some products are meant to be used without water, like the moist cleaning wipes, and some other stuff. But my skin gets kind of dry, and I dont break out, so I dont use toner, I just blot my face with a towel when done. But I dont like the wipes, my skin is sensitive.

At night to take off makeup I use eye make up remover for my eyes, then I dampen my face with warm water and use MAC Cleanse Off Oil to remove my heavy foundation. I massage that in for about a minute or so then rinse. After that I use a face wash/cleanser and massage that in to remove the oil & little bit of makeup thats left. Rinse it off, towel dry and put on my Olay Syrum, eye cream, and chap stick ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanks for posting these tips! I would always start from the forehead down to the neck but I think I'm going to try this way because I notice that I'm still breaking out on my forehead and chin.

Take care,

Audra :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
