When I was growing up I was told many beauty remedies from my mother. Such as:

1) Cucumbers on the eyes

2) Perfume on pimples...go figure

I'm interested to hear everyones thoughts and beauty remendies...

So, bring'em on...

- Perfume on pimples: the alcohol in the perfume dries out the pimple, and also prevents reinfection.

- Wash with soap and water as often as possible if you have oily skin: at least, it works for me as it reduces both oily patches on my cheeks and forehead and any pimples that may occur.

- Use talcum powder in your hair in an emergency if you can't manage to wash it.

- Once a week or so, I clean my hair with plain old household soap: I use a LOT of gel, wax and products generally, and this helps take off the buildup.

- If you accidentally put on too much lipbalm, the excess can be used on cuticles as a softener.

a healthy coating of vaseline and cotton socks on the feet over night for supple skin in the morning.

I use for my hand every night.

But olive oil is the best there is, even for sores. At night I put a layer of olive on my lips, and wakeup with soft and supple lips, but every other day, I use vasaline, and once every week, I sleep with naked lips...

Olive oil: great to use as a hair mask, great as a night moisturiser, great for shaving with, great at keeping skin soft, and it can be used as a cuticle softner

Rinsing hair in cold water makes you hair more shiny.

Iv never heard about using perfume on a pimple, sounds interesting.

Put olive oil on your hair overnight one day b4 washing. It will make the hair soften.

Put ice on swollen pimple to reduce the swelling (this will save you before any big events)

Paste toothpaste works as an on-the-spot treatment for zits... Use Listerine instead of rubbing alcohol on minor abrasions.

cool thread! i have none or they were already mentioned, so i'll just keep reading!

Any olive will do, since all olive oils have antioxidents in it. But I use the one I use for cooking, virgin olive oil...

Olive oil as a nightime extra moisturizer for face and, in an "emergency"(if nothing else available) to remove mu

Non-gel toothpaste to clear up pimples

Conditioner (in shower) as shaving cream

Sleep

That's one of my faves, too!

Also:

Coconut oil as deep hair conditioning treatment.

Drink lots of water!

never heard of this before. sounds sore! but thanks for sharing.

mine is : gently scrub your gum with salt = tighten gum.

coconut oil/ mehendi/ for hair

olive oil for body (definitly need it during the winter months!)

honey (with a Vit E capsule mixed) / 'uptaan' for face

vaseline for lips

a hair pack/conditioner made out of an egg, glycerine, castor oil and vinegar

castor oil for eyebrows and lashes

cold water when you rinse your hair, makes it shine.

take your hair between two nails and if your hear it squeaking (sort of), you know you don't have shampoo on it.

perfume on your wrist and ear lobe when you go out, the perfume stays longer on it than it does on your neck, and it produces like a wind of perfume around you so get noticed ^^
