In your part of the world, what traits/features are considered "Beautiful"?

Is there a local icon or celebrity who really is symbolic of that type of beauty?

Is there anything you do to try to bring yourself closer to that beauty ideal?

Is there anything you do that actually emphasizes how you are different from that beauty ideal?

I dont know but i think this is kind of an impossible question because i am aware of the U.S. standard of beauty, which is the blonde hair, blue eyed look. That being said, In ohio...i don't think there is a particular "look" or "beauty" standard specific to us.

Maybe I just didnt get the question. hm

thanks to models and stupid magazines, young women now tend to be very slim, but with some breasts of course. about the hair/eye color, i don't think it really matters. though we usually think of blonde haired people as people from the north of Europ, Sweden etc...

if i were racist, i'd say the usual french girl should also have white skin instead of yellow or black, which is stupid and completely inaccurate.

1.*This is not my ideal of American Beauty, but it what people think the American Ideal is* Tall, Slender and Fit. Outdoorsy. Blonde or Dirty Blonde Hair. Big Blue Eyes. Nice Teeth and Smile.
In my area...that kind of Girl isn't really around or desired. In the SF Bay, multi-racial girls are desirable. They have fuller bodies. Hips and Thighs. Light colored eyes. Smaller petite frame.

2. Not really.

3. No. I don't mind a little bit of a bigger butt though as it is considered "beautiful" where I am.

4. No. I just do my ow program. I went throught the phase of trying to be the ideal tanned, blonde. It didn't work for me and I have embraced what I am now. I don't fit into any standard. I don't do it on purpose, that's just what happened.

In your part of the world, what traits/features are considered "Beautiful"? Since most people in Austria are blonde/brunette we consider girls with jet black hair exotic and exceptionally beautiful

Is there a local icon or celebrity who really is symbolic of that type of beauty? Can´t think of one

Is there anything you do to try to bring yourself closer to that beauty ideal? Since the exotic look is kinda rare here, I´d say our standard beauty ideal is not far away from the US idol (tall, skinny, long hair, blonde or brunette straight hair). So I kinda fit that standard anyway, but I always want to make myself look flawless so I can fit that standard even better (shallow? yes I guess lol)

Is there anything you do that actually emphasizes how you are different from that beauty ideal? well the only thing about me that´s different from that beauty ideal is that I have a bigger butt than most European girls. Not huge, but definitely big for a person who weighs 120 pounds.

That always makes me remember what an American who lived in Vienna for a year used to say about us: "Austrian girls are pretty, but they got no ass!"

Here the kind of women praised as beautiful is someone more like Beyonce and J Lo(no breast, huge butt) than Pamela Anderson

But then, here where i live (north of the country), a girl that looks like Andi would be followed around by thousands of eye looks, while a girl like Nox in the south of the country (where most of the people are italy and germany descendant) would be a great hit (LOL)

Maybe Camila Pitanga (btw she's dressed like a prostitute on that photo because it was her character on the last soap opera she was on)

Hmm... Not really

Is there anything you do that actually emphasizes how you are different from that beauty ideal?

Don't know!

I think everyone has different ideas of what is beautiful, i come from where Kate Moss is from, in my eyes she is an average looking girl, and just got lucky? but i find some young girls long to be like her, i think Gisselle (i think i have spealt her name wrong) is really lovely and also Racheal Hunter, Heidi Klum, Claudia S, N. Campbell, Helena C, Tara B, Heidi from Sugarbabes, Charley from Big Brother. My cousin is a catwalk model & has been in vogue & loads of mags she is a lovely girl but not what i would call beautiful, her sister wanted to become a model so she went with her to a top agency in London but they were not interested in her as she was not tall enough, but they were interested in Sarah so that is how she became a model, she does Paris and London shows. i suppose everyone has a different view on who is beautiful

I think in Florida, tall, blonde and tan is pretty popular. Of course there are a lot of hot Latinas as well!

I'm blonde, but super pale and super short. So I guess I do stand out. lol!

Currently where I am in southern California, just about anybody can be considered hot. The whole idea of *beauty* over here is a little different than it would be in other parts of the U.S.A. Over here, beauty can be 'bought'. You don't have big breast? Buy 'em. You don't have an ass? You can buy that too. Artificial enhancements for everything exists here. The downside is while it is easy to buy things to mold you into "beauty", it makes it more difficult to accept yourself as you are.

I would not necessarily fit into any one region's general idea of beauty, but different groups of people in the same local area have vastly different ideas of what is beautiful, I'm sure you all know that.

With conforming, I've been there, done that. A good bunch of harm it did my psyche, so I stopped trying to fit in that way. Now, I look much MUCH better when I don't change my look too much from natural.

I don't have to try to be different, all I have to do is simply stand there, LOL. I seem to stand out no matter where I am... and I think for certain people, that's a good thing!

I live in Canada so there is a melting pot of mixed ethnic backgrounds etc. I'm not sure if there is one type of look here that is considered beautiful. To me beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, skin colors etc.

Is there a local icon or celebrity who really is symbolic of that type of ?

I can't think of any local icons or celebrities that are symbolic. I know Canada has alot of models that are famous, beautiful, but right now I can't think of their names, lol.

Is there anything you do to try to bring yourself closer to that beauty ideal?

No. I just try to accept myself for who I am and what I look like. When I was younger I went through the faze of wanting blonde hair but it turned out a disaster and didn't suit me. I like myself better as a brunette.

Is there anything you do that actually emphasizes how you are different from that beauty ideal?

No.

I see all kinds of beauty in different people, im a strong believer in confidence, i think that it makes you very attractive, so does having a kind disposition, beauty definatly comes from within.

I think there are many features considered beautiful here.. BC, and Canada for that matter, is a huge melting pot with many different types of people.. however here in Kelowna most people have blond/light brown hair.. the beach look.. the don't call us Kelownafornia for nothing.. lol

Is there a local icon or celebrity who really is symbolic of that type of beauty?

Nelly furtado - Shania Twain - Pamela Anderson - Keisha Chante all originally from Canada.. but different looks completely!

Is there anything you do to try to bring yourself closer to that beauty ideal?

No.. lol, if you don't like the way i look, than don't look..

I do however put on atleast minimal makeup to look like a prettier version of myself

No.. i totally stand out here in Kelowna anyways.. lol.. I'm short, dark, girly and very curvy..

The media has its own portrayal of beauty. ie. 'what is hot.' Although, we as individuals each set up our own standards and requirements. What the media finds attractive, I find utterly, and indisputably trashy and infinitely disgusting. I think beauty for a women resides mainly in her intelligence; intelligence deviates far from the norm in most women. I think americanized women are a lot different than other women from across the world. It's especially apparent in their mannerisms and their body structure. That's what I have perceived, at least. Is there an icon? There might be an icon in the U.S. that the media portrays as a 'copy girl' for the rest of the women to imitate, but since beauty is subjective, it's hard to set up an icon for beauty.

LOL! You know, you might be right! I never really noticed that since nearly everyone that I know has nice white teeth.

my city is pretty diverse so i would say beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. i think that most people here do acknowledge the beauty the see in others. that's pretty cool!

Is there a local icon or celebrity who really is symbolic of that type of beauty? no one person embodies that type of beauty.

Is there anything you do to try to bring yourself closer to that beauty ideal? i'm already that beauty ideal, along with a host of women i see everyday! i love that about my city!

Is there anything you do that actually emphasizes how you are different from that beauty ideal?
