Looking for advice on a hair problem. I have long hair...changed the color a few times. this time I had a friend who is a beauty school graduate do some highlights. I liked it so when my roots grew in she did some more. It was a little much the 2nd time but I got used to it. Then two nights ago she came to touch up my roots and thats when the disaster happened. My hair is now blochy yellow brassy platinum brown streaky mess. I am now going to rest my hair a week and then go to a professional. Problem is now I'm not sure what exactly can be done. I would prefer to have the blonde pieces toned and then some dark low lights put in to even out the mess. or if its easier just dye my whole head dark brown. But I'm concerned that color won't take in some areas. I don't wanna have to cut my hair I'll go back to Black hair if thats the case. for what my hair has been through it seems to be in alright condition.

Has anyone had this problem before? Any advice? I'm very depressed over the way my hair looks right now.

I've been in the same situation, I had orange highlights! haha but I just went to a salon and they fixed it right up, you won't have to cut your hair, there a tons of ways to fix color problems if you see a professional.

I also ended up with orange highlights from a home kit the hair dresser added in blonde to break it up and make it less noticeable. Don't dye over it yourself as it wont take well on the highlighted areas go see a professional and they will help you out

Depending on how bad it really is a hairdresser will be able to tell you what to do and hopefully get your hair back to normal.

Good luck!

Everytime your friend did the colour was she only touching up the root or did she pull the colour down to the ends aswell?

She would take more hair & down to the ends thats why now im mostly bleach blotchy blonde! ..... I had some overprocessed peices that felt very gummie some strands felt like rubber and broke completely off.... I did 2 deep conditioning treatments and a repair & reconstructing treatment and it feels like its a lot better than it was the other day.

She is probably going to get offended when i go to the color correctionist at the salon on saturday but oh well .... its ashame because i want to tell her in a nice way like yo find a new profession because you dont know what ur doing. She graduated from beauty school but hasnt got a job in a salon yet. I regret getting this done by my best friend but i figured it would save me money and she would be kinder to my hair since its so long

start using a protein treatment (i like redken CAT reconstructor) to strengthen your hair, followed by a moisturizing conditoner these next few days before you go to the salon. i've been in your exact situation (except i dont have a friend to blame for past messes, just myself!)

without seeing a pic of you, i'd vote for toning the blonde and adding in some lowlights. if it's not dark enough then, you can go back over time and have the whole thing colored darker. hope your hair turns out beautiful!
