ok so don't know if this has already been posted but i would really like to know what other people have experienced. This is kind of embarressing but i do have some pretty noticable facial hair. Now it would be fine if it was blonde and light or just not noticeable but it's not. I have black hair and i'm very self conscious about and so i get it removed from my upper lip, cheecks, and sideburs (through threading). What i wanted to know is about waxing it. I did it once and had a bad reaction to it and broke out in all these little red, irritated bumps. They took over a week or more to completly go away and since then I haven't done it again. I was wondering if anybody has had this same type of reaction and maybe if they knew what the cause of it was. And if there are any other routes to go down or maybe if there are different types of wax because I hate the hair on my face.Oh and your opinions on or with bleachin or lightening of facial hair?

I need help, Thanks

The best thing for you to do would be to go to a salon if your thinking of gettin waxed, because at least they will be able to do it professionally and your less likely to harm your skin. Let them know of your previous experience and they may even be able to discuss other options with you. However if you do get waxed, your'll have to keep it up otherwise it will just grow back. I wouldnt recommend bleaching it either as it can make it even more noticeable.

If you do decide to wax yourself though, make sure it is wax designed to be used on the face and not just any wax which is put on legs etc...

Otherwise other options include laser (which are very expensive and need several sessions to see an effect) or epilators of some sort but you should go to professionals to do that.

Hope that helped! x-)

I used some Nair brand hair wax strips and I ended up with some pimples in the waxed areas the next day. I'm going to try again tonight but I'm going to use a clarifying mask on my face first. If you have the extra money I would definitely go somewhere that specializes in waxing.

Ouch! That's what I think of wax. I usually use the cream remover and haven't had a problem with it at all. It takes the hair clean and leaves a fresh scent. I'd find a pro to do the waxing as well, good luck with it!

i usually do use the cream remover and it does a good job of removing the hair but only lasts a couple of days until it comes back. Plus when i use it on my cheeck i get this strip on my cheeck where my skin is lighter because there's no hair and it looks really bad. Then the only way that it goes away is when the hair starts to grow back and it becomes one color again. Otherwise it's like this section of demarcation where my skin is lighter. So i really don't know what to do.

Non of the cream removers work on my 'stache. I could easily let it grow in and trim it up and dress as Charlie Chaplin for Halloween.

I think I have some hairy mutant genes somewhere. My Mom blames it on our German ancestry but I don't feel that's fair to the people of German descent..

yeah i think i have some of those genes too, being indian in all. I think most indians do. But the cream does work on my stache. It's not that the cream doesn't work it's just i wish it last longer and not give me weird colorations on my face.

I'm glad that the cream does work for you but it stinks that it isn't longer lasting. I haven't noticed discoloration but I can see how that would be undesirable. My Mom told me she just shaves hers, umm no thanks! Maybe look into laser or electrolysis but be prepared for a large price.

I'm a hairy one myself, and I never bothered with waxing or using removers for my "peach fuzz." I did end up using my trimmer though, and it worked well. The hair grew back, and I got tired of the battle, so I left it alone. It's more noticeable to me IMHO than to others. I recommend consulting a waxing professional (so to speak) before trying it yourself.

If you apply your makeup in the right direction it is less noticeble but it's the 'stache and the chin hairs that annoy me. I can pluck the chin hairs but there isn't enough hours in the day to pluck the 'stache.

i wish it was only peach fuzz, but it's real dark black hair. So it kinda sucks then especially since it's dark, and not even like light so you coudn't see it.

Thanks for all the replys, i appreciate it!

In the past, I had tried depilatories and waxing. I did laser removal on the upper lip and sideburns, and for me, it's the way to go. One session makes a huge improvement, so if you're on a budget, you can just start with one session to try it out. Obviously, more treatments work better in the long run, but I feel that it's best to test it out first. I've tried different types of lasers, and the Aphogee seems to work best for me (I have pale skin and dark brown hair). It's by far the least painful method of hair removal. I'm going to get the "sides of face" done next.

Here is what I found that works the best. Don't waste your money bleaching it, waxing it or threading it. Go to Walgreens (or wherever) and get a little device called Finishing Touch. It vibrates the hair off. It doesn't hurt, and I absolutely love it. Great to get rid of the female "stache" that we all know and love, and great for ridding of "peach fuzz". It is under 10 dollars as well, and will last a long time.

Thank's for the recommendation.

I'm Sorry, I feel dumb for asking this, but what is Threading?

Also, is waxing really expensive? I knoww it varies from each salon, but like generically, how much would it approximately cost?

Threading is when...
"The practitioner holds one end of the cotton thread in his or her teeth and the other in the left hand. The middle is looped through the index and middle fingers of the right hand. The practitioner then uses the loop to trap a series of unwanted hairs and pull them from the skin. There are also devices made that can hold the thread during the procedure."

East Indian salons are usually really good at this and it is cheap.

i know that theres a kind of wax that is suppose to be better for sensitive skin. i'm not sure what the name of it is though. you might have to ask someone who is a estician or

works in a spa. they would probably know.

you could try a procedure called electrolysis, which permanently gets rid of selected

facial hair. that will be alot more expensive but may be better for u in the long run.

as far as bleaching/lightening you could do but you would have to do that more often.

the same with using a facial hair remover like neet or nair. also, you might have a bad

skin reaction to it like with the wax.

I hate the smell of creme removers.

I waxed my upper lip once but I think Threading is a better option. The wax stuck to my lip and was hard to get off. :)

I'm curious about waxing down there. I would like to do it myself, diy, but I'm afraid (so far I've only done leg waxing). Any tips/good kits?
