Ulta: Codes, Deals, Sales, and Discussion

That is awesome!  I feel like this box came SUPER fast.  I am not sure if it is the dollar amount I spent or because of how much it weighed.  Normally my box comes via UPS so far then the USPS finishes it off.  This time I got no tracking (via email, it was in my Ulta account) and it shipped out 10/20 and I got it 10/23!

I am still trying to decide what, if anything I want to get with the 20%.  I am super bummed I did not get my  $10 off coupon for my birthday or the mascara.  Then again maybe I am confused and you no longer get the $10 off coupon.  I got the bonus point email (about 2x points in your bday month) and they said I would get another email for my mascara but so far nada.  And we all know what contacting Ulta CS is like!

I spent that 20% coupon as soon as I could when the Beauty Break came out!

I didn't hit Platinum last year, but this year I made by the end of Feb (my bday month).  I had already received the coupon for the CK One mascara (didn't like it), but I didn't get in on the $10 bonus.  I mentioned this to the associate not too long after hitting Plat, and she explained what the bonus offer was for Plat -- otherwise I wouldn't have known.  So at least it was still active around that time.

I ordered late on the 18th, it shipped on the 21st and will be in my grubby little hand cream covered hands on the 24th!  I like that!  I think that order was around $140 -- my newest order ended up being around 16 w/ tax, but before tax, discounts and points it was at $175.  I'll take it!  I submitted that order around 245PM EDT and received a shipping notice today at 340PM EDT.  I'm crossing my fingers it will be here Monday, but that might be pushing it.

Me too!  I have one I got via email (for online for sure but maybe you can print it off for in store) and one in the mail yesterday that is for in store or online.  I am sure I will end up giving away at least one of the onlines maybe both since I JUST made an order!  It is how it always goes though!

Thank you!!!  I'm trrrrrrrrrying!  I had to buy groceries for my mother today and ended up paying w/ my debit card.  Rather than have her pay me back, I just 'let' her buy me a small goodie-goodie from CVS.  So I think that still counts, LOL!

I will only use Ulta points at 2000/pop, but I maaaay have to make an exception w/ this ad.  I am already back up to something like 500 after nearly wiping out my account.  

I also just had a referral for ipsy, so if they come out with an awesome 500 point promo I get another freebie.  I love free shopping!

And of course there's Birchbox.  I just referred my mother (cough, me), so add on another 50 for me and 110 on her new account.  More free shopping!  Mom really got excited for the Glossybox I subbed her to, but at 21/mo w/o promos it was hurting my bank account a bit.  She (cough, we) can enjoy the $10 box just as much!!

You're a good daughter!  And I totally would have let her repay me by buying me makeup! Haha enabler math!

But good luck to the low buy!  You can do it!  Take the time to reorganize or swap your stash and another way is to keep track of products you use up ( via collecting the "trash" or keeping a list on your phone).  I get such a sense of accomplishment out of finishing something!  You can do it!  Hang in there! /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I threw some things in my cart, applied some coupons and hit check out!  Only after I hit check out did I realized I saved $16.50 but I also put my cart total below $50 so I paid the $5.95 for shipping!  D'oh. 

If I would have been more clear I would have added the $2 I needed to qualify for free shipping.  Grr.  Oh well I saved money right?  And got points and earned money off so that is something.

SAFE!  I am not really tempted by the new ad.  I did linger over the IT travel kit for one second -- then remembered that I have two brush sets that haven't even been tested.  

There are some good deals that are usually anti-coupon, but I don't need hair care (wash and wear here, 99% of the time) and have my HG hair products of which I'm stocked.

Back to attempting this low-buy thing...

Yeah, I feel like Ulta has been around for a long time, but is kind of a "secret" in the high-end beauty world.  If Ulta keeps bringing in the prestige brands, their business will only grow.  They have way, way better GWP and rewards program than Sephora.  Its not even close.  There are a few brands at Sephora that I am very loyal to (NARS, Marc Jacobs, Hourglass) but anything that I can find at both stores I buy from Ulta.  Primarily because points at Ulta translates to $$$ off.  

I love going to Sephora and trying out products there, and I spend a ton of money there, but Nordstrom and Ulta are getting a lot of my business.

This is not an Ulta specific post (and I'll prob post in a few threads) but it is for all of you who love makeup!!  Product is not sold at Ulta or Sephora (actually I think it is only Costco or online drug stores, or the product website).

I had 3 appts at the mall yesterday.  1) SiJCP for a smashbox makeover and free gift 2) L'Occitane for a hand massage/scrub and free birthday gift (L'Occitane's birthday, not mine) with $55 purchase and 3) makeover with bare minerals to go over some of the holiday kits/looks.

NOT ONE OF THE GIRLS WANTED TO TAKE OFF MY MAKEUP AND THEY WERE ALL ABUZZ OVER MY LOOK!  Now for me, this was an incredible feeling!! I mean I do get compliments from them since they know my newness to makeup application, but not like yesterday.  And I left the mall at closing, in my same makeup I arrived in. :laughno:  (and I still got my free gift from SiJCP since they were the ones who didn't want to do my makeover!!) So here is my plug for my new obsession...and theirs too I daresay!  

I had a sample of a brightening face cream that could be used alone or under or with a foundation, moisturizer, etc.  When I first put it on I thought OMG I LOOK LIKE THE TIN MAN!!  I thought I was WAAAAAY over illuminated, almost chrome like!  But, I was getting ready to go to the mall so I didn't care since my first appt was a makeover.  Well....it settled into a WINNER of a base (all by itself) and I have never had people fawn over my makeup like yesterday.  I tried to take some selfies but I just don't think you get the full gist of the wonder of this cream...it is Borghese Splendore Brightening Makeup and it is UH-MAY-ZINGZINGZING!!!!  Here are some pics.  The one at night after I got home is funky, not sure why the pic isn't clearer.  The first one is outside of SiJCP on a smoke break! LOL!  I had to put my hair up while outside because it kept getting in my lipstick and streaking my face red!  I heard comments like "you did your highlighting and bronzing PERFECTLY!" "Wow I can't believe you only have one foundation on and no illuminator!" "I feel like your makeup is so perfect I don't even want to do your makeover, do you want to maybe just do lips?" LOL!!  FYI - the makeup is all from the bare minerals Magic Act palette.  Lips in day pic by Kat Von D, but I do not know the color. Lips at night...natural.  Hahahaha!

Your makeup does look really great! Did you apply the foundation with a brush or your fingers? Also, am I understanding that you didn't apply any face powder on top of this at all? Sorry for the questions but as i was reading your post, I remembered that I had a sample tube of this but hadn't used it because I just didn't know how so since I need every miracle possible (the older that I'm getting, I seem to be constantly struggling to really like any foundations that I've tried so far). Also, out of "two decades old" habit, I always feel compelled to slap on face powder after applying the liquid.

Right, no powder over the top. I'm just not that into putting creamy things on my face with a brush...I feel there are less streaks using my fingers, so I leave the brushes for the loose powders. I'm only wearing my Algenist primer under the cream...and only blush from Magic Act over it. No additional highlighters or bronzers.

Where did you get your sample? I'm trying to remember where I got mine!!! Maybe a beauty box???

I received one of these from Sample Society a few months back, and then again when they did the mystery box special. Generous sample size!

LOL, I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one with the "applying foundation with a brush" handicap!!! Everytime that I see videos of others using a brush, I think how neat it looks but then always chicken out when i'm applying makeup. My husband suggested for me to just practice one day when I don't need to go anywhere and I was like "No way, that's just too much trouble!" Of course, he just doesn't understand that I've reached the age where my face actually objects to having any type of makeup put on it when I'm just hanging out at home and frankly, I'm just too lazy to clean it all off right away.  I also got the tube of Borghese from Sample Society and since you mentioned it, I might also have the Algenist as a sample so I need to dig through my sample 'catch-all" box. Thank you for the info!
