We all know the dangers of sun exposure, so what do the rest of you MUT gals do for tans? Do you risk it anyway and get a real one? Or do use fake tans? If so which ones? Being scottish, I have the typical pasty celtic complexion, so could do with a bit of brightening up. :icon_chee

I haven't started again yet, but I am guilty of going in the tanning bed. I do cover my face in there though.

I've never tried a sunless tanner simply because it seems so time consuming and I am scared to death of being orange! I usually tan in the tanning bed. My husband says it's a waste of money but it just makes me feel so good! I don't cover my face:icon_eek: I know, I know. I do slather on the moisturizer before I go in, which I don't know if it helps, but it makes me feel better about it for some reason.:icon_bigg

i tan in the sun in the summer with sunblock on. i cant be bothered with fake tans, as they are so messy and hard to get even and looking real. i got johnsons holiday skin lotion but even that annoys me because i have to wash my hands after i use it or my nails go orange. also i just feel all paranoid when im putting it on, trying to get it even.

I'm right there with you. I'm so white that I almost glow in the dark.

I don't tan. My skin knows two colors, pasty white and lobster red.

I've never tried the tans in a bottle, but I have been tempted on numerous occasions.

Tanning beds scare the crap out of me. I went a few times back in High School and the last time I went I got such a burn on my butt where my undies didn't cover that I couldn't sit down for a few days without screaming. I also had all my tips fall off my nails later that night. That did it for me. Never, ever again!!!

I don't tan at all - fake or real. The most I'll use is a bit of bronzer in the summer.

I'm just not interested in looking tan. I use a bit of powder bronzer on my face sometimes but that's just to cut down the whiteness of my skin. Definitely not enough to look like I'd been sunning. If I did, then I'd have to bother with sunless products on my neck and chest and that's just too much bother for me! :icon_cool

i only tan in the summer i go to the beach and use a spf of 4 ( i know very low) but thats it, im going to start using self tanner though :icon_chee

I like laying out by the pool. :icon_love

Fake tans don't match my skin's undertones so it looks weird and beds are expensive.

I use tanning bed pretty much throughout the year, and I lay in the sun at every opportunity (not that theres many in the UK) and really make the most of it when I go on holiday, when I do I either don't use a sunblock or use an oil with spf 2 or 4

i really like the estee lauder line of sunless tanner. its a bit pricey, but it smells not too bad and it doesnt get streaky or orange tinted.

Tanning in a bottle is my choice!! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I'm VERY pale, like I scare my husband when I'm wearing shorts, lol, but I won't tan in the sun because I don't like laying out in the hot sun, dripping wet with sweat, just to get a littel darker. I have too much to do anyway; I don't have time for that. I don't sunless tan in the winter though, only in the summer. I do use bronzers sometimes in the winter though, but usually just on my face, neck, and shoulders.

Maybe I am a little ignorant to tanning since I am Black, but why go through all the trouble to tan? Im happy with my dark complexion, I think White people shouldn't tan, it doesn't look real. Just be proud of your natural complexion!!

to open up your mind up a bit, tanning is not exclusive to white people. i'm actually half black and i enjoy tanning.. not because i'm not '' proud of my natural color ''.. but, i just enjoy having that glow that tanning gives my skin. moderate tanning is actually healthy for the skin. if you go back in time.. tanning actually represented wealth and class ( as the people that could afford it would get tans while vacationing ).. and that applied to white & black people.. and that's what made tanning popular.. but, of course now people tan for whatever personal reasons. i have a couple of african american friends that will actually lay out by the pool with me. '' the glow '' is popular right now..

I don't tan at all. I used to tan (about 6 years ago) and have just started to see the affects of it on my skin. I have areas under my eyes that look freckled and dark. It looks like I have mascara flaked under my eyes, but it's sun damage. Now I have embraced my paleness and wear sunscreen everyday.

I am super pale (many foundations do not come in colors pale enough for me) but I don't mind, I don't tan! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I am scared of tanning beds, that just seems like an invitation to skin cancer! And now that my parents have to go in to the dermatologist every year to get several pre-cancerous spots burned or frozen off, I don't really want to lay out in the sun much either!!

BTW, Mac-whore, I had always heard that in the past (like, in Victorian days and such), not having a tan was a sign of wealth! The working class had to work outside in the sun all day, and only the rich could stay inside and stay pale! Hence all the pictures of Victorian women carrying parasols and such! ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I have tried a couple of fake tans before, and they all made my skin orange, so I prefer to stay pale. I'm Irish, so it comes naturally ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> After a few bad sunburns as a child at the beach I started to worry about skin cancer and so now I use sunscreen all the time. Most of my friends go to tanning beds weekly but I'm not into frying myself.
