Jojoba oil has greatly reduced my flakies (and I use BP daily which makes it super dry)..

For dry skin on the body, I've heard that takin lukewarm showers (as opposed to hot ones) could help a lot..

Hi,

Try using the dry skin cream from naturalis. It has helped to managed my dry skin.

Thanks for the tips. I also use a exfoliating glove in the shower with my shower gel once a week.

Ugh I know just how you feel! This past weekend I was out at the desert and now my skin is sooo dry, I don't even want to wear foundation or powder. I picked up some Ponds dry skin moisturizer to use at night and in the mornings before I put on my makeup (my reg moisturizer just isnt cutting it right now). So I would definetly reccommend getting a good dry skin moisturizer and using one during the night as well.

I feel your pain, my forehead and nose gets so so dry, that foundation can look cakey and flakey! ergh!!

Exfoliating helps me though. I do it every morning, with a gentle powder exfoliator made out of colloidal oatmeal amongst other things. I mix it into my cleanser and then wash it off. Dermalogica's daily microfoliant is a good one, or just get another gentle cream scrub if you prefer. Sugar and olive oil is a good idea, but not sure if maybe it could be a little rough for the face?? (Great on the body though!!)

Then I blob on a fair amount of moisturiser, smear it round and then press it in (don't wipe!) and leave the excess on while I do something else for a minute or so (clean teeth / scrub lips whatever). Then just massage in whatever's left, most of it has already sunk in anyway!

At night I just use the cleanser alone and then moisturise the same way.

This way has definitely helped make it look a lot better.

Hi Kee,

As a fellow Canadian, I feel your pain. I'm in Ontario, and this winter has been brutal. My skin is a mess :icon_cry:

As the other ladies suggested, exfoliation is key. As for moisturizer.. I don't know what your budget is, but my big indulgent purchase this winter was Creme de la Mer. I have sensitive skin, so it's too rich for me to wear under makeup, but as a night treatment, it's wonderful. VERY hydrating, gets rid of all the flakies, and evens out the skintone. It's a bit on the pricey side, but you only use the littlest bit, so it will last a long time.

Good luck!

The recommendation of a humidifier was a great idea. Homes get very dry in winter. I always run one at night in my bedroom in the winter.

I am a very big fan of Bobbi Brown moisturizers for my very dry skin. She makes several I have not tried, but all the ones I have are terrific:

Hydrating Face Cream (extremely moisturizing, and also works to keep foundation in place, an extra benefit)

Extra Moisturizing Balm( I use this when my skin is seriously dry, or at nightime only)

Extra SPF 25 Moisturizing Balm

If you are interested, see BobbiBrowncosmetics.com (or gloss.com) and click on Skin Care

I also find that putting olive oil on my skin at night, before moisturizing it, helps with dryness a great deal too.

I have very dry skin too. Painfully dry skin in the winter. I am on a beauty budget too, so along with exfoliating I love love love L'oreal's Nutrissime Reactivating Dry skin Cream. It feels wonderful and has staying power so you don't have to reapply all day, and it's SUPER affordable. I usually pay $8.99 for a 2.5oz/70g jar.

i have a dry skin all over my body. my t zone is just the opposite lol (though it tends to get dehydrated in winter).

i swear by LRP hydraphase because it saved my cheeks this winter. i agree the key is to exfoliate. for my face i just use kaolin. i do it once or twice a week but you shouldn't do more than that. for your body, 2 tablespoons of sugar with one of liquid honey, it's an incredibly soft and moisturising body scrub.

another trick is to use a thermal water spray as a toner and let it being absorbed by the skin before applying your moisturiser. sometimes, after 20 minutes i'll just reapply another layer.

olive oil is really great ( i love the products from TBS). i also love coconut oil.

for really dry parts like knees or elbows, vaseline before going to bed.

make sure you apply a good body lotion after your shower all over your body and apply a body butter or a thick cream every night.

Hi,

This is very true because since we're heating our homes, the humidifier helps to provide moisture.
