Stated or retail value is such a tricky thing - I think worth is often in the eye of the beholder, as they say. I'm not too into makeup, but I know people who'll spend $50 on an eye shadow palette, and I think "um, you could buy that at Target for $9.99", but it's the brand. To those people, paying $50 for that brand is worth it. Not many people (that I recall) complained about the retail value of the Brokedown scarf because they loved it, and thus were happy to get such an expensive item, but in reverse, a lot of people complained about the watch (I hated it, too) or the wrap (I actually loved it) because the perceived value to them was less because they didn't like it. Not trying to argue (at all!), just saying, it's hard to know what is "worth the money" to different people. I loved the last luxury box, most people did not. But if you sent me $100 in fancy makeup, I'd be like, what a rip off!
