Are you one of the those people? If you do think exfoliation is unnecessary, why?

Just trying to get more educated, Thanks.

I highly believe in exfoliating. Especially if your skin is as oily as mine, I feel that I need to!

Me too. I have intense oily skin so I need to exfoliate so that It removes that dead skin and gives my new skin room to breathe.

I believe in exfoliating and unfortunatelly I didn't do any for 2-3 weeks. I can see my skin doesn't look as nice as it did before...

i exfoliate both my face and body, it leaves my skin a lot smoother

I believe in exfoliating and using a moisture restorative (olive oil or olive oil soap for example) afterwards.

The only time you are not supposed to is when you use self-tanners or right before you wax your bikini line, etc. Certain scenarios like that cause problems, but other than that it is good.

Yeah, it's neccessary but not too often. About once week is good for me or I get red and irritated. Lee.

I don't use facial exfoliators, but I do use a washcloth when I wash my face, so I guess that is exfoliating??? I usually don't exfoliate my body, but recently I tried it and now I'm addicted.

My face is sensitive so facial exfoliatants cause dryness and irritation.

Definitely, I would only exfoliate about as much as is recommended for microdermabrasion (no more than about twice a week) because it can irritate your skin if done too much.

Exfoliation is good, as long as you don't do it too often or use too harsh of a scrub/sponge/whatever you use (for example, I've heard that the popular St. Ives Apricot Scrub has too large of granules and leaves microscopic scratches on your skin, so that's not good!)

I follow my dermatologist's recommendation of washing my face each night with Cetaphil or Dove bar soap and a Buf Puf sponge (rubbing very lightly so you don't irritate the skin too much), which both cleanses and exfoliates!

I've never tried microdermabrasion or other harsher techniques that you couldn't do every day.

i believe in it. ive spent a part of my life without it, and my face has been happier since i started.

IMO, exfoliation is a must no matter what is your skin type to prevent future skin problem.

exfoliation or the technical term, desquamation, is a definite must in your skincare routine, it sloughs off all the dead skills on the surface of the skin, it should be done 1-2 a week.

*NOTE - girls, never use a body scrub on your face, the granules are far too rough for the skin on your face! It might seem like a common sense thing, but trust me, I have girls coming into my work all the time wondering why their exfoliant is leaving their face red raw, using a body scrub on the face is definately a bad idea!

Really? I've heard the opposite. I always read in magazines that its good to scrub the area you want to shave/wax to prep the area so thats its clean and smooth. Hmm.
Exfoliation is a must for me. Aside from the visible benefits of smoother and softer skin, it just makes me happy and squeeky clean

Gawd no. I have to exfoliate, it prevents white heads and gets rid of dead skin cells..any derm will tell you that.
