yeaaayyy!!!soooo happy that u share my thots on this!!but i do go for facials at least once a month to pamper myself:rotfl:

any body try a comedone extractor? ive been using that on a clean, washed face, use the extractor, then put some toner on to close the pores, and then moisturize and its been going pretty well. i also use an aspirin mask every other day or so.

Miss G, im from Malaysia too! r u saying the Decleor salon at pampering floor located at Starhill?Ive been there before for my body massage..

I might wanna try your methods, but what kinda towel should i use?like 'good morning' towel?

And after Step 3, our face would be still wet right, and we still have to wet the towel and rub?

In the end should we air dry our face or pat pat with towel?

So basically it's the usage of face towels for exfoliation that got rid of your bumps?

hi there!it's nice to see Malaysians around..hehe..

yupp, the exact salon at Starhill, but their prices are quite steep (for the services), so i usually go to my usual salon in Bkt Bintang Plaza, a small one, but still the service is excellent, they use Decleor and Darphin products exclusively..

'Good morning' towel is good enough, cause it has those 'bulu2' to help with the exfoliation, if u get what i mean..

After massaging face with the wet towel, rinse, wring the towel so it's damp instead of wet and slowly massage again.

It's your choice whether to pat with dry towel or,just leave it be, cause after using the damp towel, your face would be dry (but moist) already <---a perfect base for toner and moisturiser..

Hope it doesn't sound too confusing..cheers:rotfl:

It's a mix of exfoliation and deep-cleansing, even if u deep-cleanse but u don't exfoliate gently, the old dried cells are gonna accumulate on your skin and make it dull..so both steps should go together...HTH!

thanks for sharing! I think I'm gonna try the towel exfoliation...I currently use baking soda but it can get kinda drying. thanks!

I think those are milia ( small bumps) you are talking about. Oil that got stuck under the skin. I have used the Naturalis milia treatment along with their purifying cleanser and rice scrub. It has removed and reduced the oil seeds without the need for physical extraction.

Hope this helps.

thanks missG. Those tips are really helpful.

Decleor is expensive but I do like it.

I got a great bargain, my friend bought it and realised she'd never use it, so she sold me the eye cream worth $70 or $80 for $35. I guess I'll tell you whether it works in like 20 years :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />:D

okie its been 4 days im following t this method.I'll wash my soap with mild soap(Isoderm), and then gentle massage with wet towel, rinse my face, wet the towel again n squeeze all the excess water n gentle massage again.

Okie here what ive noticed;

1- My skin is cleaner than usual, and at the same thing my pores seems visible?Every nite after ive done the towel exfolition, my face is bit red

2- Next morning, my face has a layer of semi obvious oil (previously i will have just very lil oil').So is this a good change?

3- My face is oilier for the rest of the day and im thinking the exfolition really removes dead build-up cells and therefore, pores are bit cleaner. So,trapped oil are just flowing without clogging.

I cant see it has done anything to my small2 bumps around my chin and corner of my mouth and at our sideburn area.Does it really matter what kind of towel we use? Im just using a small towel more like a handkerchief to exfoliate

any comments?

sorry for the wait, ladies..been out of town for quite some time...:sleepyhead:

Pinksugar:no problem, do update me on the eye cream ok?hope it's working for you..

Am using face towel (more like your usual body towel, but smaller one). Some might experience the extra oil on face, due to natural sebum production, but do be careful not to scrub too hard, which is why, only a gentle massage will suffice.

And do use a toner and moisturiser according to your skin type.

I would advise that u go for facial once a month (especially to get rid of old congested bumps, which might take some time to go away). Please continue for 2 weeks or so, and give me your update again. Hope you won't give up to soon ...cheers!

p/s: u really need to get a milk cleanser before using your normal foam/gel type...double cleansng is best to ensure your face is totally clean..

What cleansing milk u use?Im using Eucerin gentle cleansing milk am , at night i'll use Shu Uemura cleansing oil, followed by a mild soap (isoderm or acne aid) and dats it.I dont use toner or moisturizer. In a search of those 2 items as well

Am using Dermalogica Precleanse (now changed to Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, cause the Dermalogica one's finished) and the rest from Decleor.

U can try Dermalogica cause seems like a lot of ppl like using this line as it also caters for sensitive skin, just make sure u don't end up buying more from pushy sales assistants. Decleor is bit more expensive in Malaysia, but it suits me well. Good luck on that one!

On the cheaper side, Neutrogena and Nivea or Olay has good range as well, but u still need to search for one that suits u..

Oooh! Are you sure about scrubbing with that soap!? I have a feeling your sensitive skin probably can't cope with it, especially with the scrubbing... Mine can't handle anything apart from Dermalogica, LUSH and my lovely Au Thermale Avene spray!

Anyway, chances are, all the scrubbing is making that soap of yours penetrate deeper than usual. If your cleanser is completely compatible with your sensitive skin, and gives you enough moisture, then this is good news, but if its too harsh, its probably drying you out even more, causing your skin to create more oil to compensate. Scrubbing is only good when your cleanser isn't going to cause damage, as every time you scrub, you're giving it a chance to go deeper! If you want, you could try switching to a nice, gentle liquid, clay or buttery cleanser, I guarantee you there's nothing better! [The only cleansers that seem to agree with me LUSH's Ultrabland, Baby Face and Angels on Bare Skin, or any of Dermalogica's] I've had the works: acne, flushes, oiliness, blackheads, excema, hives...And everything in bar form is just too much for me!

Another thing about scrubbing, is it can uncover under the surface blemishes. A buildup of dead skin cells can actually cover some blackheads, but scrubbing gently actually helps your cleanser get rid of them. Once again, finding the best products possible for your skin is essential.

The redness afterwards is caused by increased circulation, due to the warm water and massaging. If this doesn't recede, hold something cool against your skin for a while, or don't scrub as hard, or for extended periods of time. Exercise also helps!

I also agree with the Dermalogica Precleanse recommendation. This product is fantastic: its soothing, and makes cleansing all that more effective!

wow, Kemper!thanks very much for adding your thoughts on this.. really detailed explanation...you sound like a professional

but seriously, i'm glad i could learn more than what i know..keep on contributing..cheers!

i just give up with my skin. i dont know what product to use anymore. i spend thousands alraeady. facial just make it worse. I got to stop buying. and stop going for facials.

my skin is gone. im F*ed up.

thought want to venture in Decleor/sothys/payot. because of their natural ingredients. i just tole my self to stop it. let it just heal by itself. with my 3 step routine.

Wow, this is some great news! Apart from those small bumps I get here and there on my face, I always get compliments on my face being so clear, because those bumps have no other pigmentation besides my skin's natural tone, so people normally don't notice them, but I know they are there, and it is always so hard for me to take the compliment because I know my skin isn't quite *there*, you know? Someone was suggesting that this was milia: I do not believe it to be, as milia occurs in "crops" and these bumps rather can occur either as groups or individually, as has been my experience. I do have small patches of milia on my arms, and there is a big difference. Also, you cannot "pop" milia, nothing will come out, and simply cleaning the skin will not remove them. Usually skin therapy in the form of medicated cream is needed.

This is very true. That being said, don't forget, bronz_chiqz, another very important point brought out by missG which was to make sure you are using a toner and moisturizer afterwards that suited your skin type. It sounds like your might be normal to oily. I don't recall you confirming whether or not you had been using one. You still need some kind of moisturizer, nevermind a toner/astringent especially with this regiment, because your skin is reacting to the massage even if it is gentle by producing more oil. Then, when you don't replace the moisture that you have "cleansed" it of (even the moisturizing cleansers reccomend a separate moisturizer afterward because water always takes away), the skin will overcompensate and push out more oil then it may need. Hence the oiliness you see when you wake up in the morning.

I used to wash my face with a washcloth when I was a kid, but forgot all about it when I became a teenager and started using cleansers instead of just soap and water. Funny enough, it was my very simple mom and dad who just learned this as the best method who taught it to me. Now I'm going to have to try it again *with* my cleansers (plus get a cleansing milk) to see if I can get rid of those bumps once and for all.

It is also quite interesting that it doesn't seem to matter your skin type concerning these bumps, because it seems like we all have different skin on here, oily, normal, sensitive, and I have sensitive and dry, but we all have those bumps. Go figure!

The description matches milia. I have had it and my son as well.

Milia clears up on its own.

Good to hear that all those treatments have helped but time is all you really need.
