I'm having a facial skin crisis. I'm used to having oily/normal combo skin which is acne prone, but all of a sudden my face is reacting to something I put on it and it's dry, red, and bumpy! I tried to put some soothing aloe on it and parts of my face stung. It's very upsetting because I don't know how to deal with it.

When you have a skin crisis, what's the first thing you do? If you don't know what caused it, how do you start looking to find out?

Don't use any treatments on your skin for a while. A few weeks ago my face went a bit crazy after a skin treatment and it was red and super flaky! I just slathered my skin in cetaphil moisturizer and it really helped. Cetaphil is really gentle and doesn't irritate my skin, so I would try a moisturizer that is very gentle.

Have you used any new products lately?

I've used a bunch, unfortunately. I did add them slowly and found that a primer was doing some damage, but I'm trying to figure out what else could have done anything. I'm slowly going to patch test.

I have some St. Ives Collagen Moisturizer. It feels pretty mild - is it okay to use?

I'm planning on a week or so of no makeup, only sunscreen and moisturizer...

I would say if you know it's gentle for  your skin and doesn't irritate it, go for it. I did the whole no make up thing as well since my skin was so red and heavily peeling. I would apply moisturizer a few times a day. Did you by change use any retina products? That's what made my skin go nuts because I had used it after I did a face mask, so probably wasn't the best decision on my part.

It's never ever given me a problem in the past. I'll try for the time being and bring it to work to reapply.

Hmm, well I:

1. Found out that Miguhara BP Cream (Korean BB/primer) was causing itchiness and irritation, and stopped using

2. Spot-treated pimples with Dr. Lin Acne Corrector

3. Tried to help treat dry, blemished face using Benton Snail Essence and Cream (http://www.skinandtonics.com/benton-snail-bee-high-content-essence-serum-review/)

4. Attempted regular makeup routine during daytime but products got flaky and gross on my face fast

So that's just about all of it.

Currently patch testing Benton products on my arm.

St Ives was stinging and it freaked me out that it had alcohol but when I look at Cetaphil it has alcohol too. I just want something very kind to my face.

I'm the queen of allergic reactions. This sounds like one. My advice do not exfoliate too much ,it will irritate your skin. Cetaphil does not work for me. Cervace helps it's like cetaphil but to me more mild. Also use more of a milk cleanser. I have extremely dry extremely dry skin And use johnmasters. I'm not at all into organic products but this has made my skin so nice! I cannot stop raving about it. They also send free samples I only buy the mandarian orange maximum moisture this is incredible and has prevented me from going back to the dermo. Also consume a lot of liquids wash, your face in ice cold water avoid hot showers. If you must wear makeup try to use a powder. Although I have heard powder makes it worse. Foundation and bb cream just sticks to my dry patches and gives me small bumps. Hope this helps

Well, normally I try and trace back to what it possibly could be, then I use heaps of cream, and water to rest my skin and eyes. This normally works. :). Good luck. :) Sounds weird I know. :- ;-)

I suggest you have a look at products made from the Meriance. It contains ingredients to act as anti wrinkle and anti aging cream, at the same time stimulates skin regeneration and replenish daily moisture loss. Anti-Aging Collagen Cream is rich in Amino Acids and minerals, stimulating skin rejuvenation with the effect of a smooth, soft and healthy skin. Moisturize is particularly essential in case you have dry skin. Skin dryness can lead to patches and breaks in it along with causing peeling of the skin. For this, you should drink plenty of water on regular basis and can think of applying herbal based creams.

Oils are a great way to treat without hurting the skin. I recently burnt my face with facial hair remover, not too bright huh, my skin was irritated, red and peeling. I used my Tarte oil and PTR oil. Within a few days my skin is calmed and peeling complete. Good luck and the antihistamine tip is a good one.
