The reason is that I get perms every three months. One week after the perm I get my hair dyed/colored. My hair is porous and it does not hold any color long. I have about 1/4 1/3 grey in it and I have tried coloring my hair myself and it comes out horrible. Dark on one side lighter on the other. If I use semi permanent hair color a couple of times a week I can maintain the color. Now mind you. I do this while I am taking a shower so the stuff is only in my hair for about 7-10 minutes. If I use anything that is mixed with another solution it will make my hair more porous, plus the big thing is.... DON'T I HAVE TO DO MY ROOTS, first and then comb the rest through later? If that is what it takes, I can't do it right and I'm not paying my hairdresser to do it twice a week. Life gets more complicated as you get older. BTW, I get perms every three months, but my hair does not look like and old ladies poodle cut. It looks more like the way Susan Sarandon wears her hair when it's loosely curled. I'm not a frump. LOL If you can think of another way of maintaining the color I am open to ideas. Thank God I don't work anymore because I wouldn't have the time to cater to myself. That's the only good thing about getting older. :-D
