Scarves, Head Bands & Ponytails

I need some hair help! Everytime I put a headband or scarf in my hair it looks horrible! It looks even worse when I try to put my hair up in a ponytail. I'm shooting to get my hair to look like these pictures. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

I have such a horrible time with headbands, scarves and even ponytails.. I think it has something to do with the shape of my head, but I don't know!!

I can never make a headscarf to stay put on my head!

i live off of scarves. but i use them like head bands. i just put my hair in a pony tail. then tie the scarf around my head to its like a headband. tie the bottom in a knot on the back of my head. take the ponytail off and there you go.

as for headbands, i use them more for head decoration, not so much to push my hair back. i usually just put them in the middle of my head with some hair in front of it.

Doesn't it just kill you how she looks like she just threw the scarf, headband on and looks totally put together, while we have to go through all sorts of changes to make our hair look totally carefree, uurrgghh!!

I can easily work the headband style scarf but I'd love to be a bit more creative like the first Jessica pic and like the scarves on the Christian Lacroix S/S catwalk.

If you use a large scarf, a little trick you can try is to wrap a small clear elastic around it (to make it tight in the back) then pull the ends of the scarf around it to cover the band

i love the ponytail jessica was sporting. it looks fun and cute!

i don't think i can get a scarf to stay put on my head as i am clumsy like that. and the headband would make my hair go crazy curly, so i won't even go there!

When I wear my scarves, they stay in, but what kills me is the crown of my hair. I wants to part over the scarf and it just doesn't look right.

I'll try the clear elastic Janelle! I'll have to run to WalMart today and pick some up.

I love how her hair looks perfect all the time, but I honestly wonder how long it took to get her hair like that.

I love the ponytail too, but my hair just doesn't want to go up in a ponytail and look right.

What a great tip. I never would of thought to use a pony to keep everything in place for the scart. Great idea!

I've never worn a head scarf before but now I'm tempted to try them out. I've worn headbands alot, especially if I can't do anything else with my hair. I use the same trick Retro-Violet dose with the ponytail headscarf, but with a headband.
