I have curly hair. its tight curls due to my half blackness but alot more tame due to my half whiteness lol. (there is a pic of it in my profile)

Now, I am AFRAID of wearing my hair down..like what if it gets tangly, frizzy, extra puffy, something is caught in it.. ugghhhhhh!

any tips of over coming my wacky fear lmao. My hair has been in elastics for 16 yrs! it's time to conquer this haha!:vogel:

There a lotions out there for curly hair that keep frizzies in control. Beyond The Zone at Sally's has a lot of curly hair products. I'm sure your hair will be beautiful down.

you have beautiful hair.. i agree ^^ there are products out there that will help you control the frizz and what i have learn about curly hair the less you touch it or mess with it the less it will frizz..

I'm half black too and my hair is wavey and curly. I understand the fear of leaving it down. I find that if I find something that works, it doesn't work for too long and then I'm again on a quest. You might want to try naturallycurly.com. Also if you do a search other curly girls have asked questions about hair products and what works for frizz.

I think you have fantastic hair.

I love how the curl starts at the top, and is consistent to the end.

I saw a similar lady, like yourself, on What Not To Wear.

Nick, the hair stylist, put in a leave in conditioner/serum (controls frizz) and styled her hair by gently pulling and twisting small sections of hair into long, controlled curls.

Then he used a duffuser to gently blow dry her hair.

Hope this info helps.

First off, you have gorgeous hair!

I'm a naturally curly/wavy gal myself and I understand completely your fears! lol! My hair is always tangley (when I wear it natural).

I second the recommendation to check out Naturallycurly.com. A very informative website and they recommend some of the best products for curly hair!

I recommend combing (wide teeth comb) your conditioner through your hair in the shower. Afterwards, use a GOOD leave-in (finger comb). Also product is very important! My HG's are:

Curly Hair Solutions : Curl Keeper (frizzoff.com)

AG: Recoil (curl enhancer)

SexyHairConcepts Curl Enhancer

Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee (don't let the name fool you!)

Good luck :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

a little crazyness isnt bad. my hair is crazy and i kind of like it. you see models try to get the look by teasing their hair. i think it can look sexy! don't be afraid, embrace it. haha. everyones always trying to get rid of their natural hair and get frizz free straight hair. thats boring! i know the models look fabulous when they do it..and im always like, thats kind of like my hair!

check out jessicurl.com i heard many raves about that working wonders for curly hair. i havent tried it myself but its definately on my never ending "to buy"

list.

Im the same way. My hair is not too curly more like wavy and ive never let it down in my life while curly unless its clipped in the front. I want to try and leave it down for once. lol

Thanks ladies for all the GREAT idea's. I think ill have to go and pick up a few of these reccomendations you have gave they sound like life savers!!

you guys are great and never let me down when i need help :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

ill have to try these things out and then actually get to building my Notepad to post some pics. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I know exactly what you're talking about, I'm a What Not To Wear freak! :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I agree that a diffuser attachment for your blowdryer will work wonders on wavy/curly hair. It can make the curls more defined and reduce frizz.

Sally's beauty supply store has a great selection of products of all hair types and even a nice selection of hair products designed for ethnic hair.

(I love their Silk Elements line, --truly does make your hair soft and silky and most importantly it moisturizes. The saleslady even suggested the product to my sister who in fact has similar hair type to yours) Although this particular line is designed for ethnic hair, it can be used by everyone.

I suggest Care Free Curl products as well.

And your hair is soo lovely btw. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Hope that helps.

I used to have crazy curly/frizzy hair too before I got a relaxer. The best way to manage it is to do everything while it's still wet ( from wash ). I'd pat dry it, and run product through it while it was still wet and it would dry way more managable. Whatever you do I wouldn't comb through really curly hair if you intend on wearing it down. John Frieda's Frizz Ease products work really good =]

Hey girl!

My mom is half black. She has very curly hair, and she never knew how to deal with it. She used to cut it super short, and close to her head. I convinced her to grow it out, and she has been seeing a stylist in Toronto who really knows how to work with curly hair. He transformed her, and her hair looks AMAZING now. He also has great products for curly hair. Check out this website, and look at some of his before and after pictures:

I think the best product he uses is called Curl keeper. It's the only think I could ever find that gave me amazing, shiny, beautifully formed curls.

Good luck!
