HairEgo,

I believe you mentioned in another thread about a protein spray or conditioner to help strengthen your hair before coloring? I was wondering what the name of the product is?

I get my hair colored at a salon. The roots are touched up about every 10 weeks along with a trim. I use Redken shampoo for colored hair or sometimes Prairie Naturals (health/vitamin store brand) that contains zero sulfate. For conditioner I use AG light conditioner. I live in the prairies so that comes with harsh winters. I flat iron my hair about every three days and use a protective spray. My hair is not really dry or breaking but I am guessing I could use a more moisturizing conditioner or protein. I noticed my ends are frizzing a bit this winter (naturally wavy hair from the ears down) I have lot's of hair but fine in texture. I was wondering what conditioner or protein products you would recommend? I have access to salon products or Sally Beauty Supply. Thanks!

Hi Shelley,The protein spray I mentioned in the other Thread is Redken Extreme Cat ...Like I said in the other post you were refering too, this treatment only deposits on the weakend parts of the hair, so you dont have to worry about over depositing of protein. Use it the shampoo BEFORE you go to get your hair coloured. Let me know how it works out for ya!

Hi HairEgo,

I bought this product (Redken Extreme Cat Protein Reconstructing Treatment) on day I posted. Wow! I used it on the 17th and noticed a difference in my hair. I can't describe it but it feels thicker or healthier somehow. Tomorrow I am getting my hair trimmed and hair colored. I also tried it today and can feel more of a difference. Before getting my hair colored I wash it the night before and don't use any hair styling products. I really like this Redken product and would repurchase once I finished this bottle.

How often should you use this treatment? Once a week or?

Do the treatment the wash after your colour and then continue with it once every other week...too much protein isnt ideal for the hair, so try to only do it once every other week afterwards....glad u liked it

Thanks so much!

Is there a product that has both moisture and protein?

Unforttunetly, its almost impossible to combine moisture and protein into the same product. There are products out there that contain moisutre and silk proteins, but to combine pure protein and moisture is extremely rare. There was only one treatment I knew of that did this, but it was discontinued by the manufacuror. I've been in the industry for 9 years and have only ever came across that one product. If you want the best of both worlds try using a moisture shampoo and protein conditioner, or vice versa depending on the health of the hair.
