Hi Everybody at MUT!

In this thread I would like to ask for everybody, and I mean everybody's honest advice. Every time I come here I feel there is so much knowledge and good friends and good advice...and good humor.

For my age, 41 I have really good skin, I think.

I only have 2 (two) wrinkles.

But they are very deep, and on (you guessed it) my forehead.

It is at the point where I have already decided to "try" Plastic Surgery.

The question is...Botox? Retsylene? Collagen?

I am going to go to a doctor in Marin County, California...but..

If anybody out there....you can even P.M. me if you do not want to post...

has any experience with Botox, Retsylene, Collagen or any other type of injections for my forehead wrinkles....I would really appreciate it.

I don't need a facelift, I just want the very deep wrinkles gone.,

and I would like to go into the doctor with more knowledge than just reading the brochure.

I know it is a very personal subject to talk about any plastic surgery experience you have had.

Any shared experiences/stories will be very appreciated.

I just want to hear from real women before I make my decision.

Thanks Everybody!

i havent had anything like that done (im only 22) but if you tried everything and nothing worked for you then i would say do whats in your heart! if something is really bothering you and you know you can fix it, why not fix it? if its going to make you feel better about yourself then go for it. imo

Thank You Kim!!

I will try the link you suggested. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to go Michael Jackson or anything. And I agree that when people get all Botox'd out they look really waxy and weird, maybe someone like Michael Douglas. Or Burt Reynolds.

Why did Burt Reynold have to ruin his face like that!!!???:icon_frow He is one of the few males, along with Alan Alda, that I want to see age Naturally and Beautifully.

I just would like these puppies diminished slightly and not end up looking like Joan Rivers.

I will keep you updated.

Thanks for the support, Lollipop and Jennycatseyz.

You guys are right.

I'm going to try the link Kim sent me and we'll see what happens.

I have to call Dr. Delgado's office to make up my mind within the week.

the newest thing out now is the neuropeptides for instant wrinkle relief. non invasive and for what i understand you can see results almost instantly. i've never tried them myself, but might be worth a look before trying surgery.

Personally, I haven't had any experience with injectibles but my former boss started getting botox on her forehead to fight what she called her 'railroad tracks' (expression lines that run horizontally). Poor girl was in her mid 20's and she had noticable, deep lines from scrunching her brow! Anyhow, botox definitely made an improvement in the tracks. It wasn't an instantaneous change; good results seemed to come after a few days. One nice perk is because the shots stopped her from scrunching and (from what she said) over time the shots seemed to last longer because her muscles were being conditioned to forget to scrunch.

The downside to botox is of course the restriction to express much with your forehead. :icon_wink ... or more like :icon_conf because it'll be harder to get that one brow up! LOL! At first I noticed a difference in her expressions, but that was because I was so used to seeing her brows going half-way up her forehead before the shots! The change was noticable but not stone-faced like those that get shots all over the place.

There's not much more I can add since I wasn't the one getting the shots, but I hope that helped some! :icon_bigg

Kerry....That is what I have.....Railroad Tracks. Deep horizontal lines. Not elevens. Not from scrunching.......but more from 40 years of going.........what the ****??? ok. but if you go....HUH? and raise your eyebrows in surprise you'll see what I mean. I've tried not to do it...but the lines just stay. Thanks for telling me about your friend. I need all the advice I can get right now, and anything helps.

Thanks!

Elisabeth

I am already seeing lines on my forhead from going like this.. . I try hard not to make those expressions, but dang is that ever hard to do. I just think that if they are noticable now what are they going to look like in 5 years?! I can't justify getting botox yet, but would consider doing it later on. Let us know what you decide to do and how it goes.

Hi,

I have not had experience with cosmetic surgery, but if I had tried all other ways to try to reduce the lines first, I might consider collagen. I would consider that because it is the one thing are body naturally has so I think it would be the safest route. Botox scares me knowing that it is derived from anthrax one of the deadliest diseases. What really is the long term effects of that? That's just my two cents on it.

Hello all you great guys/gals!

Just to give you an update on the Plastic Surgery Dilemma--

Well, the matter was sort of taken out of my hands, anyway. My mom called me and she needs me to take her to get an upper G.I. at a hospital that is quite a ways from where she lives, thus not giving me enough time to go down to Marin to see about the procedure.

I did not mean to cry wolf here, and I cannot tell you how much your kind support has meant to me.

So it looks like Dr. Delgado will have to wait to get his hands on my face!!

But I agree with the general concensus regrding Botox, and if I do get stuff done it will probably be here in Switzerland or maybe with Dr. Delgado and with Retsylene (or whatever).

Thanks again, ladies/girls/women, you are way cool.

until you decide for sure what you want to do, here are somethings i have done that have made dramatic results on my wrinkles (over last 6 months), microdermabrasion (epidermx) chamoille oil, grape seed oil, tca acid peel, renova (presciption)

whatever you decide i support it. i myself may still go in for laser treatment laer in the year, havent decided yet. (i am 41 too) and my skin was not good but is getting better.

Absolutely maph. I'm now pretty convinced about at least Botox. The latest Botox casualty I saw was Glen Campbell on Larry King Live. He used to be, if not a hottie, not a bad looking guy. Well it's like he called up Burt Reynolds and said...Now who exactly did you go to completely foul up your face? I want that doc. His face looked like a death mask or something. He probably got a face lift in addition.

Nope, No Botox for me.:icon_cool

Kim,

You said it, girl! I always believe that, too. Thanks for being there for me.:icon_redf

You should do whatever pleases you and what makes you happy. I haven't tried plastic surgery or Botox myself, but I have heard so many good stories of people who have used Botox and had great results........ if that's something that YOU really want to do, I say "Go for it !!!":clap

I agree 100%!! People should be concerned about their health and well being before beauty. Of course, its a nice bonus, but what good is it if youre unhealthy???

Thank you very much Killah 22 for your support/advice. I am trying to respond and thank everybody individually who replies. I am from Califonia. In the job I had..75% of my co-workers had plastic surgery. I know the stats. I know the facts...many were please with the results....some were not...almost all were addicted..to the idea of More and Better. I have never bowed to peer pressure and I am a strong woman who marches to her own drummer. I myself never wanted nor felt I needed P.S. I am beautiful on the inside, smile a lot, look 8 years younger than I really am...have no wrinkles...other than my ever-lovin railroad tracks..and they do not fit with the rest of my elegant mug and what's worse..they make me FEEL old and way more serious than I should.... So, even though there are a couple of positive posts regarding Botox...I have decided against it. I would like to try some other injectable....that way if I'm not happy the results (the treatments don't last forever..I think it is between 3 and 6 months)..I can at least say...o.k. it did not work for me...but at least I don't have this botox toxin floating around in my body. When I called the doc to ask again about Botox, the lady was very cold and rude and said something along the lines of ..it's all provided in the brochure...you need to read the info. Oh, sorry for a stupid little ignoramus like me asking you to thaw yourself out to give me a little info and kindness......and No, I would not like fries with that. She was very superior. They say it is not a toxin, that it is safe. I don't believe them.

Sorry for the rant...and thanks again for your kind thoughts and words.

Elisabeth
