Owning a magnifying mirror = a disgusting orientation with reality.

I agree with the love/hate comment.... love them for tweezing (although it gets a little addictive!

) but its not good for the self esteem to see things *that* close up.... I'm all for the flattering glow of candlelight! haha

Oh How I hate these mirrors! My girlfriend has one to pluck her stay hairs. She showed me my face and it scared me away. I hope my skin really doesn't look like that. I am older though and do not have the best skin on my face .

I got rid of mine, I had a close encounter with a magnifying mirror and I prefer to live in denial, LOL.

I have to use one mainly for plucking eyebrows, and I also check my makeup before I leave the house, b/c sometimes I dont realize I have foundation splotches, uneven blush, etc in a regular mirror. Of course I dont love the way I look when my face is magnified 5 times, but think of it this way, other people dont have super magnified eyes, they dont see you the same way as the mirror makes you look. They see you the way you look in a regular mirror

Those mirrors are indeed disturbing! Another thing i hate is bright neon lighting...not only do i see every pore, my makeup also looks clown-ish!

Those magnifying mirrors are something aren't they? Maybe I'm in a life learning mood but @ 37 you just seem to understand and see things in a different way. When I first saw myself in one of those mirrors I was like HELL NOOOOO!! But then I realized that we are all our own worst critics and they're great for tweezing and in my bad case habit squeezing those little blackheads. So, I figure unless I learn to accpet and love myself I can't handle those mirrors. I own 2.

Haha the title made me laugh. I know what you mean, it can get so frustrating whenever you take a close up look in the mirror. But don't worry about it - remember you're the only one who's going to be seeing yourself so close up

I have a love/hate relationship with those mirrors...they're great for tweezing and what not but they show your pores up close and personal...yikes!
