Hmmm. Yes, I would say that if you skip mostroizing everyday then its going to turn out bad. Thats pretty much the thing that stops dryness and with no dryness you have smoother skin and less breakouts. I also have the oilness and I use Cetaphil and (my skin) feels totally cleaner after that. Also getting a two in one mostroizer with that and SPF is smart

i have oily, acne-prone skin. when i stopped using my moisturizer for a while my skin went haywire. i started reducing the amount that i used and my skin seems to be much better and i'm having fewer breakouts as well.

Hi - one thing you can try, if you like or dont mind using essential oils and natural oils is taking a tiny bit of the oil (something like sweet almond oil with tea tree and lavender or any other EO) rubbing it between damp palms and rubbing it into your face. Make sure the residue is massaged in (but it should only be a ttinnny amount).

I have pretty oily skin (uggh)...I usually apply tiny dabs of mattifying moisturizer (Caudalie Matte Finish Fluid) right before I do my makeup. It mattifies my oily areas and moisturizes the other areas that need it (usually the spots where I apply BP or spot treatments for zits).

Caudalie Matte Finish Fluid is pretty expensive $49 ($60 CAD) but the results are great. My skin looks glowy under my makeup. Also I have very sensitive acneprone skin and this does not irritate it. And of course, the oil control and marrifying properties are pretty good (I still have to blot, but not as frequently!)

Other days in which I am more *economical*...I just use regular cetaphyl only on the areas that need it.

I basically only REALLY moisturize at night w/a rich cream. That way I wake up with dewy, supple skin-- this is a must for me even though I am very oily. I find it is more beneficial for me than anything

What exactly are these "Scar fadders" and "skin tone eveners" everyone is mentioning? Brands please? I am in dire need of something to fade old acne marks!! thanks!!

I have oily skin but I still use moisturizer everyday. I use Purpose Dual Treatment Moisture Lotion w/SPF 15. It's not greasy at all. It's really light and it absorbs quickly. If I don't use moisturizer everyday then my skin becomes dry.

I've also been using oil cleansers to remove my makeup because regular makeup removers strip my skin of oil and causes my face to produce even more oil. Sound weird but it works. I use MAC Cleanse Off Oil because it has no mineral oil so it doesn't break me out.

Also a gentle cleanser is important. Anything too stripping will dry the skin out and just produce even more oil.

I have combo/oily skin and use Olay Total Effects SPF15 during the day and Olay Age Defying Intensive Nourishing Night Cream at night. They are both oil free and do not cause breakouts. In my younger days, I didn't use a moisturiser, more than one derm told me it was unnecessary.

I have combo/oily skin.... At night I don't use anything, during the day I use my SPF moisturizer. I've found that if I don't moisturize at all, I dry out and then I get even oilier (my skin's way of fixing the dryness I guess!) The little bit I apply each morning is just enough.

I also have very oily skin.

I want to know what is a best toner? triple action toner or Clean & Clear Oil Controlling Toner?

Sorry for asking question i'am new to this...

p.s. sorry for my broken english

Hopefully someone will help Thanks

Ella27, if those toners have alcohol in them, I would not use them. Alcohol only dries the skin out and makes it produce more oil.

Hi,
What I suggest is that you look for an oil-free moisturizer. I have combo skin w/an oily t-zone. I used to curse having this, but now appreciate it.

Btw, what brand of sunscreen are you using?

Sewmazing,

Great advice! I have never wet my sponge before applying my powder, and Im gonna try it. Also, it does not make sense to buy oil eliminators, then use ioly products. Thanks!

If I go with my experience, I would like to share that it’s not good to use moisturizer regularly on an oily skin. Moisturizer is good for oily skin only if it is used in a limit. I have an oily skin and that’s why I usually have to suffer with lots of acne and pimples on my face. Whenever my acne medicine dries out my skin, I prefer to use moisturizer on a daily basis. Otherwise it’s okay to use moisturizers hardly on an oily skin.

Oily skin needs special care. This type of skin tends to get greasy and shiny, the pores tend to be large and open, mainly in the t-zone area. The excessive oil production causes the skin to look dirty, tired and unattractive. Moisturizer for oily skin is very necessary.

i personally dont like to use any moisturizer on my oily skin, i think it makes it worste, but thats just my opinion =]

It depends on the moisturizer :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> a light hydrating gel with sebum control properties should be fine, alas finding just the right moisturizer for your oily skin is a quest, i think i found what i was looking for as a teen only years later when i had a moderate combination skin.
