I'm addicted to washing my hair every day. If I don't wash it every day it feels dirty and the hair looks bad. You who wash it every other day or 2 times a week, do you still take a shower every day and cover your hair? Or do you only shower 2-3 times a week?

I used to do this when my hair was long and I used few styling products. Basically I would use a light conditioner on my hair and massage my scalp thoroughly on days when I didn't use shampoo. This helped to distribute the oils at my scalp and freshened my hair. It also cut out the frizziness my wavy/curly hair is prone to. My shampoo habit then was to lather every three days or so, but now that it's short and I'm using more styling products, I'm shampooing every day. :icon_conf

Kerry, do you massage your scalp when it's dry or when it's wet with the conditioner?

I wash my hair twice to once a week, depends on my hair conditions.

I have wavy/curly hair so I don't really like to wash it everyday.

Most shampoo contains detergent and chemicals that will dry scalp and hair if we use it everyday.

I love my new shampoo "Deep Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner" from Stephen Knoll.

It makes my hair sooo smooth and easy to style, :icon_love

I do this in the shower with wet hair. My favorite light conditioners are from Suave, especially the clarifying conditioner (basically a light conditioner, not one that removes buildup) because they didn't weigh my hair down like ones that are 'deep moisturizing'. Plus they're super cheap and I didn't feel guilty about using lots on my off-shampoo days. Of course, I let my hair mostly air dry afterwards because heavy, daily blow-drying is hard on hair!

Lice is not caused by dirty hair. Unless you have an oily scalp, you should not wash your hair everyday. The older you get, the less oil your scalp produces. Older ladies wash their hair about once a week. You should be fine, if you start to develop a problem, wash your hair more often.

honey u will not get lice from not washing ur hair...................lice can't survive in unwashed hair. They like clean hair. So u r safe:clap

As I said before I wash my hair 3 times a week. On the days I don't wash my hair, when I shower, I cover my hair with a shower cap. On my non shampoo days, I don't even wet my hair. It is much healthier this way.

I wash my hair 1-2 times weekly, depending on the season/style. I have afro-kinky hair and my scalp does not secrete a large amount of oil. Believe me you will not get lice from washing once weekly. I believe this rumor was started by those in the cosmetics industry. Ask a dermatologist, not someone seeking to sell something!

I am exactly the same. I HATE having to wash my hair every day because it is such a pain, but i have no choice. If I dont, then my hair is very greasy and horrible. I have tried every type of shampoo you can think of, including one's recommended for the problem by top stylists and NOTHING has helped. I even tried washing my hair only every 2 days for a few weeks and still that did not help. I dont use styling products in my hair that often and i wash my hair properly and rinse properly-any way i try does not help, and trust me, I HAVE TRIED EVERY WAY! I still have to wash it every day or else It looks horrible. :icon_twis

Today is a perfect example. I have a cold and so did not feel like washing my hair last night. I woke up this morning and my hair feels all oily and horrid. It looks like it has not been washed for weeks even though it was only 2 days ago. :icon_eek:

But for the record, my hairdresser ALWAYS comments on the good condition of my hair. :icon_chee

What shampoo are you using?? It might be too strong, and ridding your hair of all oils, so that it's creating more on its own naturally to compensate. And are you conditioning only on your ends? You don't want to condition anything more than what would stick out the back of a ponytail ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

i take a shower every other day. if you wash your body every day, your soap can dry out your skin. i never have to use lotion. i've never had dry skin. i dont know. thats what my mom taught me. i've never stunk either. lol. but, by the third day, i feel just terribly gross! not the skin, but the hair. it gets really oily.

I've been washing my hair every day for as long as I can remember. Maybe I might skip a day if I wake up really tired and running late AND if my hair doesn't look flat or too smooshed. But for the most part, its an everyday routine for me.

My hair is also Thermal Reconditioned and (knock wood) I still wash it every day (which is not recommended for this type) and so far (knock wood again) my hair is not damaged or dried out. I do have very thick hair. I've never colored it. But as soon as my grey becomes prominent, I guess I will start to.

I find that when I do skip a day from washing my hair, it looks limp and dented in certain areas or just plain blah. It looks its best when its fresh and clean.

And...like others said, YOU CAN NOT GET LICE from washing too much or too little.
