Janelle, or anyone else who has some great ideas....Please help! I am now a HSH convert (have been using it for just a week and love it!). I have what I would consider fine hair, but a lot of it, and it can still look "poofy" and a bit damaged from time to time. As a result, I try not to wash it every day (usually every other). So, any suggestions on things you have done to make it look less "greasy" (sorry...yuck!) or even less freshly washed? It actually just looks a little bit greasy just at the roots (and greasy is really a strong term, doesn't look that bad). Any ideas?

Also, anything that you all find is a good product to apply to just the ends to take away that bit of frizz or "poof" that is NOT a serum? Those dimethicone serums make me nervous. You use them too often and your hair gets really dry!

Thanks everyone!!! Really looking forward to the suggestions

I use a root lifter from Sexyhairconcepts when I don't wash my hair. If I straighten it, I try to go as long as I can (which is usually 3 days) without washing it.

Rub a little baby powder into your hair (or bronzer if you have dark hair) to help soak up the oil and make it look a little less greasy

My hair's pretty oily so I normally wash it every day, but if I'm in a hurry I'll skip washing my hair, put some baby powder in it and put it in a ponytail, and it looks ok! Just a little flatter and straighter than normal!

great tip!

I've always heard of the baby powder trick for greast roots, but I don't think I can recommend anything for your ends that isn't a serum

On days that my hair needs washing and I don't have time....I'll put it in a high ponytail/bun thingy and I make it a big nest type thing and then I'll wear a wide scarf around my head...looks stylish and is easy to do!! look at Becka's avatar.....like that!!

Not sure that is possible right now....I have a little longer than chin-length bob

I use corn starch in my hair if it looks oily. It works great. I have dark brown hair. You just have to make sure you work it thru your hair so you don't have a white spot.

Hmm. Never heard of this trick before. I actually have the opposite problem naturally. I am always putting some type of oily agent in my hair to keep it in good condition.

You should change your shampoo after every 8-10 washes too and the shampoo you are using might make your hair more "greasy."

Also when you condition, condition only the ends.

Every so often I lather up 2x with the HSH shampoo... I have the original version (not the "moisturizing" shampoo) and if I wash up twice with it, I find that it'll stay less greasy longer. On the ends you might want to try the StraightSexyHair power straight balm, or Herbal Essences smoothing cream

Sorry for the late reply hun... I have been so busy lately I haven't been able to get on the pc much...

I have to wash my hair every day otherwise mine is a greasy mess - but if I haven't washed it for the day yet and I have to run to like the gas station or something, a little baby powder always works wonders. My mom taught me that one.

thanks, Janelle! I actually posted about combining HSH with SlickLines (they have a great smoothing creme and a shine spray). So far, they seem to work really well form my hair. Only problem is, my hair seems to "get used to" products quickly and what used to be fabulous for my hair becomes so-so. Hope that doesn't happen too quickly with this great combo!

I too am a big fan of baby powder on the roots, i've found it works even better when you put it on your roots with a big fluffy face brush. As far as your ends, you could try Rusk's Wired. a little goes a long way and its also good for the day of and day after washing. hope that helps!
Oh by the way, what is HSH? Im pretty new to this site and am still trying to figure out all the abbreviations! thanx!

Thanks for the tip about the face brush! I will give that a shot.
HSH is Healthy SExy Hair line (soy shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in). Janelle is a huge fan and has turned many of us onto it. If you do a search and put in Healthy Sexy Hair, you will probably find many threads with detailed info on it.

Good luck and welcome to the site!
