For those who are interested and haven't purchased her book yet it is now out on paperback. I was surprised to find myself testing as a dry skin type (always thought I was combo/oily) and am currently trying her suggestions. The book has a lot of great information and I highly recommend it.

Hey girls! I have a question for all of you who have the book. I just got my book in the mail today and have been reading it. I took the test but I still am little unclear about my skin type. Well I am only confused on the Oily vs Dry part. I am without a doubt a S,N. The book said I was a W but I think it is more cause of genetics not things I am doing cause I cant go out in the sun without BURNING! So my question is mainly for the Oily vs Dry. It came out that I was an O but only by 1 or 2 points, so technique I am combination. She does not have a category for this so should I look more at the O or the D side? I have some dry spots but is mainly where I have applied acne meds to dry it up. My face can feel tight sometimes after washing but I think I am using too harsh of a cleanser. I also hate the feel of anything thick and oily on my face. So what should I do? What did you other combination girls do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! You girls are always so helpful with everything else!

I have combination skin also. Tested higher on the dry side of the oily/dry scale the first time I took the survey so I stopped using my topical acne meds. (they'd stopped working anyway so I figured I'd try the gentler approach) I started using aveeno ultra calming products. My skin feels generally better and when I re-took the survey I scored only slightly dry. Problem is I'm still breaking out. So now I'm trying La Roche Posey products and if that doesn't work I may have to go to the dermatologist to get a different prescription. This is my long way of saying try something for a few weeks and see how you feel. Since you are a few points on the Oily scale start with one of Dr Baumann's gentle recommendations for you such as aveeno or cetaphil.

I love this book. Since I read it and started following the recommendations, my skin has been amazing. I never thought I'd get my skin like this.

I have got nothing but good things to say about The Skin Type Solution by Dr Baumann. Her book kinda saved my skin. I thought I knew it 'all' about skin care but this book has proved me wrong. Currently I have been following her recommended skin care for a month and my skin has never looked sooo good since I cant even remember when, it feels baby soft, previous black acne scars have gone, looks clear & radiant and no more new spots or cysts have been formed not even during the time of the month . Even pa & grandpa have said how clear my skin looked! BTW my skin type is OSPT ! Also because of me my BF is following it, he too says it is good, next target is my mum!

Hey sweetsugar! What products are you using? Also what was you number for the O/D part? Thanks so much! I am really curious to see what you are using that helped you considerind we are both close together- the only difference is that I am an N! :laughing:

Hi BEgirliegirl,

My skin result was: O37/S34/P36/T34 . So Dr B says that between 34-44 is very oily!!

Currently I m using:

AM

* Cleanser: Mario Badescu Acne Facial Cleanser (a fuss free & efficient cleanser with salicylic acid)

* Toner: Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Toner ( I thought I didn't need a toner but my skin has proved me wrong)

* Treatment on T-zone only: Clindagel (1% clindamycin & 5% Bezoyl peroxide)

* Moisturizer: Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream SPF 15 (I dont have got any wrinkles but this contains retinol which exfoliate my skin)

* Apply Scarguard to those nasty dark acne scars!!

PM

* Makeup remover: DHC Deep Cleansing Oil ( I apply MU everyday)

* Cleanser: same

* Toner: same

* When I have got spots I apply 10% Benzac gel and when have got cystic acne then I apply Mario Badescu Buffering lotion

Weekly

* Kanebo Silk peeling powder, this not a scrub but I use it as a scrub but its very gently 3x a week

* I apply different kind of (sheet) masks once a week or when I feel like it

Other things I have learned from Dr B are:

* Expensive Skincare is not necessary better

* Natural or Organic skin care have never been scientifically proven that its more efficient or better for the skin

* No harsh treatments for my skin, like microdermabraison, or going to the sauna because its too hot for my skin

* Mineral Makeup has also never been scientifically proven to be better for the skin, I do use Mineral Liquid Foundation

Hope this helps! And good luck with ur skin care routine!!

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! :laughing:
